See a live demonstration of energy saving with PROFIenergy

A new trade fair model at the PI booth will demonstrate potential savings through a live measurement

(PresseBox) (Karlsruhe, ) PI will use a new model to demonstrate the efficient mechanisms for energy saving with PROFIenergy at its booth at SPS/IPC/Drives 2012 (Hall 6, Booth 210). A significant amount of energy is still being wasted during production-free periods. Use of the PROFIenergy energy saving profile provides an easy way to stop wasting this energy. This will be demonstrated by an easy-to-understand application in which a robot will guide a marionette within a robot cell. The puppet will act out the possible plant states (operation, fault, brief pause, long pause) using various scenes. The robot cell controller will shut down the robot and other stations accordingly via PROFIenergy commands. Measurement devices will show the resulting savings.

In addition, other PI technologies will present further innovations. For example, the use of PROFINET as a backbone network as far as the process area will be shown for the first time. This provides owners of existing PROFIBUS plants the opportunity to combine the benefits of PROFIBUS PA in process automation with those of PROFINET.

The portfolio at the IO-Link presentation has been expanded to include many new manufacturers and devices and now comprises over 100 different IO-Link products.

The range and performance of drive technology with PROFINET will be demonstrated by a technology presentation and a live model. In addition, possibilities will be presented for integrating the PROFIdrive interface in drives ranging from the simplest to the most complex. For example, a pre-certified source code is available for easy, cost-effective implementation of the PROFIdrive interface, thereby making this interface feasible for small manufacturers of drives.
