In der Zeit zwischen 300.000 und 200 Millionen Jahren nach dem Urknall wurde es im Universum zunehmend dunkler: Die anfangs heiße kosmische Materie kühlte durch die allgemeine Expansion des Universums stark ab. Leuchtende Sterne hatten sich noch nicht gebildet. Die Erforschung der schwachen Reststrahlung aus dieser Zeit mit speziellen Weltraumteleskopen soll nun Licht in dieses "Dunkle Zeitalter" bringen.

Die Sternwarte ist für Besucher jeden Freitag ab 19 Uhr geöffnet und erlaubt bei geeignetem Wetter einen Blick durch das Teleskop in den gestirnten Himmel.
