New Parks Associates Consumer Energy Data shows 40-55% of U.S. broadband households interested in IP-connected home controls and security solutions
Smart Energy Summit features Parks Associates energy research and home controls session with AlertMe, ecobee, Hitachi, and iControl Networks
The international research firm will preview its upcoming Smart Energy Summit in the webcast "Business Models for Energy Services" on Thursday, February 7. The fourth-annual Smart Energy Summit, February 25-27 in San Antonio, features interactive sessions including "Integrating Energy Management Solutions into Home Controls Platforms," with speakers from AlertMe, ecobee, Hitachi, and iControl Networks. The companies will explore the role of energy solutions in the connected home ecosystem and strategies to integrate energy monitoring and management with controls.
"There is a generational difference in adoption of home services, with Parks Associates research showing younger adults are more likely to have home controls, while older adults are more likely to have home security," said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates. "The appeal of home control features, especially among young consumers, stems from connectivity in the equipment and highlights the potential of using IP-enabled features to re-cast and sell energy systems to the next generation. We will explore these strategies at our Smart Energy Summit later this month."
The sluggish economy has contributed to declining adoption of home-system services, with only 15% of U.S. households willing to adopt a subscription package with a monthly fee. Speakers at Smart Energy Summit will analyze new strategies that leverage IP-enabled equipment in the home.
Speakers in the "Integrating Energy Management Solutions into Home Controls Platforms" session:
David Bercovich, VP, North America, AlertMe
Stuart Lombard, President & CEO, ecobee
Letha McLaren, VP, Product Management, iControl Networks
Paul Pishal, VP, Business Development, M2M, Hitachi Communication Technologies Americas
Smart Energy Summit addresses the growing market for new energy management services and technologies and opportunities for new partnerships between utilities, service providers, retailers, and OEMs.
Parks Associates will host the pre-conference workshop "Understanding Utilities and Consumers: Energy Management Markets" on Monday, February 25, highlighting research on demand for security and energy management solutions, including consumer willingness to pay fees for equipment and services and the integration of connected CE into home services.
Sponsors for Smart Energy Summit include Alarm.com, ecobee, EcoFactor, GreenWave Reality, Hitachi, Lowe's, PlanetEcosystems, Qualcomm, Sigma Designs, AlertMe, IPSO Alliance, and Itron.
