How do O·Z light alloy wheels compare with normal wheels? What advantages do they have? How does O·Z test its wheels? These and more questions confronted national and international journalists arriving in Vairano, Italy. Here in February 2007, O·Z held their presentation "Performance Day".

On Performance Day, O·Z made it clear providing top-performance is the greatest passion of their company. Over 30 years of motor sporting events with more than 100 Trophies and 1000 won competitions emphasize the pursuit of high performance. For example, O·Z currently supplies the Formula-1 teams of Renault and BMW with wheels. Simultaneously, O·Z would like to provide the same collected experience to customers with street vehicles.

O·Z clarified for journalists which tests are required - for example the "Biaxial" tests - and shed light upon the additional features that also have great importance attached to them besides the design. This was made clear with the model "Ultraleggera", which has been derived from the motorsport and which possesses not only an attractive design but also proves itself through special qualities.

O·Z points out that the applied manufacturing technique provides a respectable weight reduction. With the "Ultraleggera" in 8x18", which could be used for Golf V for example, a significant weight reduction would be provided compared to a competitors production. In the previously listed size, the "Ultraleggera" has an average 3,7 kg less than the product of the competition. Other advantages over the competors are proven through the bending tests, impact tests and wheel load tests. In spite of reduced weight, the model "Ultraleggera" proved substantially more stablility versus other tested comparable products.

The reduction of the un-sprung mass is experienced by customers most significantly in the area of improved driving comfort. As well, the use of these wheels provides an advantage in speed performance. The O·Z equipped VW Golf V R32 with "Ultraleggera" wheels driven on the Vairano test course, was not only quicker through acceleration time from 0 to 190 km/h, but also achieved better lap times. The racing line was reached on the Vairano race course in 0,773 seconds earlier than with the competitions best provided wheels.

The journalists present convinced themselves of the advantages and unique qualities of the O·Z light alloy wheels. They had opportunity with help of the readily prepared Subaru Imprezas racing car outfitted in "Ultraleggera" wheels to experience for themselves.
