Nokia Siemens Networks talks vision and progress at Mobile World Congress
"Barcelona is a touchstone for us at Nokia Siemens Networks," says Beresford-Wylie. We’re returning now a year on, with encouraging progress to report and a clear vision of the market ahead.

Nokia Siemens Networks also recognizes that such unprecedented growth will also create a significant business opportunity for service providers, as well as an important economic boost for individuals and societies. The promise of such a tremendous potential is laid out in a study by Leonard Waverman, of the London Business School, commissioned by Nokia Siemens Networks.
Professor Waverman will share the findings of the study at Mobile World Congress and introduce the Connectivity Scorecard, an index which ranks countries in terms of ICT usage. The study, which highlights how even the most connected nations have room for improvement, should be seen as a wake up call to nations to take decisive action to reap the full economic and social benefits of communications.
With these new opportunities in mind, Nokia Siemens Networks is committed to helping communications service providers understand the changing market dynamics and transform their business in order to secure long-term growth.
Nokia Siemens Networks’ solutions for meeting the 100-fold traffic challenge are based on technological innovations in both flat architecture and optimized modular products, such as the Flexi Multimode base station. Nokia Siemens Networks is also strengthening its work in new markets with innovative solutions such as the Village Connection, which lets service providers leverage the potential of rural markets by offering mobile connectivity to villages at relatively low levels of investment.

Visitors to the Nokia Siemens Networks stand at Mobile World Congress can learn more about the newest offerings, such as the end-to-end solution for Long Term Evolution (LTE), the successor to today’s high-speed 3G mobile networks. The solution allows mobile service providers to give their subscribers a familiar Internet experience on mobile devices at true broadband speeds. LTE is an evolution from both GSM and CDMA worlds, making it a unifying technology with true global reach.
The LTE solution launched in Barcelona benefits from Nokia Siemens Networks’ extensive experience in Internet-HSPA. It is based on the Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi Multimode Base Station for WCDMA/HSPA, available from the third quarter of this year, and the Nokia Siemens Networks core network, both of which can be software upgraded to LTE in the second half of 2009.
In order to help service providers gain real business results, Nokia Siemens Networks is also launching a number of value-added solutions such as its ecosystem for mobile advertising, a new mediation solution, as well as innovative services offerings that provide a more proactive approach to network care services.
Nokia Siemens Networks is also demonstrating its most innovative solutions, including the 3G Femto Home Access and Internet HSPA solutions, rich communication services based on IP Multimedia Subsystem, end-to-end mobile TV for unicast and broadcast/DVB-H, and Ethernet-based backhauling.
