Nokia Siemens Networks shows its self-organizing networks (SON) suite for LTE

"Extreme Connectivity" is the mantra of 4G, and Nokia Siemens Networks is answering the call for experience and efficiency to help operators deliver ultra-fast broadband speeds, low latency and a simplified, seamless user experience.

At 4G World in Chicago, Nokia Siemens Networks is showcasing a broad portfolio of All-IP network solutions that help Communications Service Providers create more valuable customer relationships, improve network quality and lower operational costs.

"Today's 'Generation Next' expects all services and personalized experiences everywhere, whether they are using a personal computer, a mobile device, or are interacting with IPTV," said Mark Slater, Head of North America Strategy and Business Development, Nokia Siemens Networks. "Delivering extreme connectivity efficiently and cost effectively will require operators to move to all-IP networks based on flat, intelligent architectures, which can self-organize to quickly optimize and repair networks, and fully automate the delivery of new services."

On the show floor at McCormick Place, Booth #301, Nokia Siemens Networks is featuring its Self-Organizing Network (SON) Suite. SON automates the configuration, operation and optimization of cellular networks to improve network quality and reduce operational expenditures. Key features include fast self-optimization in the network that can maintain network quality and end-user experience at the same time; self-configuration as a plug-and-play installation and commissioning for minimal human interaction; and self-healing functions for outage detection and fast repair. Nokia Siemens Networks is showcasing a unique SON simulator to demonstrate real-time network self-optimization.

The company is demonstrating its "Extreme Connectivity" solutions, featuring its end-to-end Long Term Evolution (LTE), which offers a holistic experience through radio access networks with the market leading Flexi Multiradio Base Station and core network elements like IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). It will also demonstrate a complete WiMAX solution from the base station to the access service network (ASN) gateway to mobile backhaul, all the way to end-user devices.

Visitors also can explore solutions for LTE / CDMA Interworking. The demonstration features options for operators moving from a legacy CDMA network to LTE. Scenarios include, loose interworking, tight interworking, and tight interworking with forwarding, and visitors will see how different configurations impact the user experience.

To illustrate how operators can simplify and differentiate their service offerings, Nokia Siemens Networks will demonstrate the power of its service delivery framework (SDF) to create multiple services with the same basic building blocks. At the Digital Subscriber Identity Management demo, visitors can experience the power of single sign-on for creating a seamless user experience that can better enable features like targeted advertising. Nokia Siemens Networks' Mobile Backhaul Solution demo takes visitors through the processing of an IPTV feed with redundancy utilizing an optimized circuit management system.

On Wednesday, Sept 16, at 11:00 a.m., Mark Slater, Head of Strategy & Business Development for Nokia Siemens Networks in North America, will deliver a keynote presentation entitled "Creating Value in a 4G World." Later on Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m., Chris Ebert, Head of 4G Strategic Marketing, North America, will present "Enabling 4G Personal Communications" in the 4G World Solutions Theatre. Ebert also will participate in a panel discussion on "Anywhere Applications for 4G Mobile Broadband Networks" at 2:45 p.m.
