NEC Launches the Second Version of the Multi-service Transport Gateway "CX2200/100"
No two backhaul networks are ever the same. "CX2200/100"@introduces a new Modular Port Configuration System that allows NEC customers the flexibility to choose from a broad range of TDM, ATM, xDSL and Ethernet interface modules for each gateway deployed.
Thanks to its newly increased flexibility and compact size, NEC found that deploying this new version of the CX2200 returned a typical OPEX reduction of 66% from a wider range of network scenarios than ever before. The benefits are further extended when deployed close to microwave backhaul solutions such as NEC`s PASOLINK NEO where valuable radio bandwidth can be better utilised through aggregation and over-booking, reducing the CAPEX impact of mobile broadband deployments such as WiMAX and HSPA.
Mr. Tadashi Ugajin, General Manager of International Carrier Sales & Marketing Division, NEC Corporation said "We understand that our customers want backhaul equipment to support the changing bandwidth, bearer and cost efficiency needs of each backhaul link - not the other way round. That's why we decided to enhance the flexibility and scope of the CX2200 with a second version. For example, when you combine the new CX2200 with PASOLINK NEO you can backhaul mobile broadband and increase the lifetime of the link while optionally migrating to all-IP.
Customers can now have a real, end to end solution for both IP and SDH based mobile backhaul with reliability and a very positive business case".
The CX2200 now brings a new degree of transport intelligence to the network edge creating new business model flexibility in terms of backhaul extension and unbundling at any point in the network. The CX2200 also extends clock acquisition support to include adaptive clock, IEEE1588v2 and synchronous Ethernet function, allowing more precise clock synchronisation between mobile base stations and the core network over a series of packet based links.
Designed as a compact version of the upscale CX2600 Series Multi-service Aggregation Switch product, "CX2200/100" inherits critical IP backhaul features such as a statistical multiplexing, link aggregation and lease-cost hybrid SDH/IP routing through its very low latency packet switch and 64Kbps TDM cross-connect.
Significant OPEX savings result from migrating backhaul traffic from SDH to IP. Using standardised pseudowire technology, this product also transmits and routes TDM and ATM traffic over IP backhaul networks without the need to replace legacy base station or base station controller equipment.
Helping customers to meet their business SLAs, "CX2200/100" also provides minimum rate guarantee and maximum rate limit functions to differentiate priority and capacity for premium and best effort traffic.
