Navtel Releases SIPFlex an IMS Test Solution
The company said that the SIPFlex application is IMS compliant allowing creation of SIP message and message flow sequence conveniently. The intuitive GUI allows virtual modification of SIP state machine like timers, default behavior and protocol error scenarios while also enabling measurement of Key Performance Indicators of the IMS network.
The Navtel InterWatch platform helps in the testing of control and media aspects of IMS networks and the solution does not require separate hardware or software for testing purposes in the different phases of IMS product development cycle.
SIPFlex enables the simulation of many IMS service flows at the same time in order to create and test different distributions of traffic profiles. This also helps decipher success rates and various causes of failure. Simulation of message floods is possible like stateful and stateless registration floods which help study the effect of Denial of Service attacks on subscriber experience.
Alvin Francis, Vice President of Marketing for Navtel Communications pointed out that IMS network infrastructure testing was not easy for network elements manufacturers and network operators. This is because two network operators will never have the same type of customer base or adoption rate for the same IMS service.
Network operators use traffic distribution models that closely match their own customer base and market adoption rates. This enables them to understand how their IMS network will perform in the environment with respect to each service they will be deploying. Moreover it is necessary to simulate a less than perfect call completion rate to study networks in actual real life traffic scenarios said Francis.
The SIPFlex application offers support to IMS AKA with IPSEC besides simulating routing components of IMS clouds like IMS User Equipment and P/S/I-CSCF for IMS test beds. It is used to test IP Centrex Servers, Conference Servers, Session Border Controllers and Presence Servers also.
"The Navtel SIPFlex application was designed to address these service test requirements while providing a very flexible yet easy to use environment to allow test engineers to easily customize the protocol components to perform protocol testing if so desired," said Francis.
