Nanotron Strengthens Management Team
Richard Ord has joined the company as Chief Operations Officer signalling the immediate benefit of the new investment round led by Zouk Ventures.
Richard Ord brings 25 years of experience in the communications and semiconductor business. Prior to Nanotron, he was SVP of Wireless Audio at CSR of Cambridge, the world’s leader in wireless Bluetooth solutions. An engineering graduate of Pembroke College Cambridge, Mr. Ord’s earlier career spans Texas Instruments, VLSI Technology, Philips Semiconductors (both now NXP) and Vulcan Machines.
“We need the expertise and experience that Richard brings to Nanotron as we scale into a major force in the embedded low-power wireless networking market offering solutions for real-time location systems,” said Nanotron’s CEO Dr. Jens N. Albers. “With the addition of Mr. Ord to the management team, we have everything in place – a solid team, proven products, strong partners and a deep customer portfolio – as Nanotron transitions from a nascent start-up to a mature company.”
“Only a few companies worldwide have Nanotron's potential as both a technology provider and a business success”, says Richard Ord on the occasion of his appointment. “The global demand for location awareness in wireless sensor networks is growing. Nanotron has developed a groundbreaking technology that combines wireless communication with ad-hoc location in a single platform to enable energy efficient command and control. The launch of nanoLOC into mass production this year is the first step towards realising our potential. Furthermore, the positive endorsement from our customers demonstrates its huge market potential.”
