MWR InfoSecurity validated as Payment Application Qualified Security Assessor

Basingstoke, (PresseBox) - IT security firm MWR InfoSecurity, who last year revealed critical vulnerabilities in card payment terminals, has been validated as a PA-QSA (Payment Application Qualified Security Assessor) by the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security Standards Council.

The company is now able to build on its proven research skills to develop more secure payment processes and validate applications that will support merchant compliance with the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

Ben Downton, Head of Payment Security at MWR InfoSecurity, said: "We have vast experience in working with software vendors in reporting and resolving serious security vulnerabilities that could affect millions of users. The PA-QSA validation is another step forward for us and a logical progression."

He added: "We are particularly excited to be able to continue our work with applications that reside on payment terminals, both traditional chip & pin and more modern Mobile Point of Sales (mPOS) solutions."

With a large number of security professionals experienced across application security, research, code review and forensics, MWR is also able to validate software products as PA-DSS (Payment Application Data Security Standard) compliant, which is an important certification for supporting compliance and a clear market differentiator for software vendors.
