Wireless radio technology - an alternative solution for monitoring and controlling of industrial plants

In industrial environment cable-based solutions are difficult to be substituted, especially if it is about transmission of signals of security-relevant measured values. But in dangerous and inaccessible application areas, where a cable based supply is nearly impossible or uneconomical, wireless radio technology finds its way into monitoring an controlling of industrial plants as an alternative solution.

As experts in measuring and control technology Müller Industrie-Elektronik extended the range of products with wireless radio technology in recent years. Based on the wireless signal radio transmission system SI-FUE more and more radio solutions were developed for transmission, recording and processing of measured values. Meanwhile energy efficient, high-performance and mesh capable radio solutions complete the portfolio. Because the radio signal uses the frequency band 868 MHz and 916 MHz with an operating distance of 300 meter, the devices are global applicable. In addition Müller Industrie-Elektronik offers a radio system for smaller ranges, using the license-free and global used 2.4 GHz frequency band, that is used as a transfer medium for several radio technologies including WLAN.

For all measurement ranges a wireless radio solution

Müller Industrie-Elektronik offers wireless radio systems for all measurement ranges. For the segment of force measurement there are several solutions in combination with devices such as load, tension, load and compression load cells and load measuring pins to the point of wheel- and axle load platform scales for wireless radio transmission such as mobile digital strain gauge amplifier ADLM-HA, the new hand-held PC WPC-HA with integrated printing function, universal radio transmitter, USB radio receiver with applicable visualisation and storage software for PC operation available.

For the product group of digital indicators, modular ME sensor series and the new product line of DIN rail devices there are wireless radio solutions such as radio transmitter, DIN rail radio receiver, USB radio receiver and universal radio transmitter for visualisation and processing of measured values available.

Radio solutions for the application in sensors according to the Energy Harvesting principle energy self-sufficient in the near future?

Currently Müller Industrie-Elektronik is working on a wireless radio solution for the ME sensor making the supply voltage for the radio transmitter available according to the Energy Harvesting principle. The required energy for the transmission of the radio signal can be provided by different physical measurements: at force measurement through movement or rotation originating vibration, at temperature and level measurement out of forthcoming ambient temperature or temperature difference. In this way the complex cable-based and high-maintenance battery supply can be passed on. Dangerous and inaccessible application areas, where a cable based supply is nearly impossible or uneconomical, can be wireless and battery-free staked by radio with the total process that way. Along with the mobility and flexibility the energy self-sufficient and wireless radio technology as an alternative solution for controlling and processing of industrial applications will gain in importance more and more.
