Powerful helpers for shredding
MTD- freshly tuned petrol shredder / Hardened premium blades work in shredder mechanism
The hedge has been trimmed, the nettles have been cut down to size, the fruit trees have been thinned out and the fallen leaves are all raked together in a pile - now it's time for an effective petrol shredder. MTD is launching two bundles of power onto the market in the shape of the 450 and the 475, which conform to the newest standards and safety requirements.
The reliable Briggs and Stratton motors supply the devices with the power required. The smaller B&S 800 series OHV draws 3.7 kW from the 205 cubic centimetre cylinder capacity, the larger B&S 1150 series OHV draws 5.2 kW from 250 cubic centimetres. The operating speed can be regulated. The motors drive the hardened premium blades in the shredding mechanism so hard that they can easily process branches of thicknesses between 50 and 75 mm. The mechanism has no problem with fallen leaves, garden rubbish and hedge clippings.
The large filling funnel makes feeding easy. And at the other side, the processed shredded matter lands in sacks thus making disposal easy. The casing and funnel are made of steel sheeting and are very robust.
The 475 model also has a funnel made of plastic for feeding in branches. The sensible material mixture prevents the device from becoming unnecessarily heavy.
Even when wearing thick gloves, transport is made easy by a large and stable handle on top of the funnel as well as inflatable tyres, which both petrol shredders have. The large collector sack has a capacity of 90 litres; the volume is reduced by a factor of 10 to 1. The generous tank holds 3 litres; both machines are able to use E10. The scope of delivery consists of protective glasses and a collector sack for the shredded material. Therefore, allowing the work to start straight away.
