VIACCESS, in partnership with Sagem Orga, launches a security solution based on "OMA BCAST Smart Card Profile"

VIACCESS, the European leader in content protection in IPTV, and Sagem Orga, one of the world leaders in smart cards, join forces to integrate a solution designed for new generations of mobile phones. The mobile handset’s range is one of the pillars of mobile operators’ strategy to launch new services, attract and develop customer loyalty. Indeed, with an ever more innovative handset range, new and richer services, operators can win new customers and develop their loyalty. Taking into account those market needs and the complexity of new mobile phone services, VIACCESS has developed a new version of its Purple TV conditional access solution compatible with all handsets complying with the OMA BCAST Smartcard Profile standard – a real technological challenge! To fight effectively against piracy with an end-to-end solution, VIACCESS has developed a set of security extensions, which are integrated into Sagem Orga SIM cards. This solution will allow efficient protection of mobile TV content against any hacking attempt.

To ensure compatibility with the widest possible range of handsets, VIACCESS is participating in the "test fests" organized by the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) and will continue to do so.

Ahead of commercial launch, and in order to guarantee the highest level of security, VIACCESS and Sagem Orga will have their solution audited by an independent third-party laboratory specialized in IT security. The first commercial version, currently in testing, will be available in Q3 2008.

The solution will be showcased at the 2008 GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 11-14 at the booths of VIACCESS (Main Avenue, AV 28) and Sagem Orga (Hall 8, B 76 ).
