Mimaki Deutschland invites visitors to explore new application opportunities with IoT-automation at InPrint 2019

Mimaki Deutschland GmbH, a subsidiary of Mimaki Europe, will showcase a comprehensive portfolio of profit-generating inkjet printing solutions at InPrint 2019 (Munich, Germany – 12-14 November 2019). Building on its established expertise in providing complete industrial workflow solutions and addressing the needs of print service providers and industrial manufacturers, the company will demonstrate how the use of Mimaki’s printing technology can produce outstanding applications and drive new business opportunities in different industry sectors, including interior design and architecture, furnishing, packaging, promotional and consumer goods. Visitors to the company booth (hall A6, booth 210) will see some of these inspiring applications first-hand in Mimaki’s Application Area, where a broad range of innovative substrates and printed products – including UV-printed wood and glass surfaces, textiles and 3D samples – will be displayed.

Central to the Mimaki booth will be the company’s UJF-7151plus direct-to-object UV LED flatbed printer. Achieving flawless print quality on a wide range of substrates, this next-generation printer uses Mimaki’s silver and clear inks to enable special decorations on glass, wood, acrylic, aluminium boards and cardboards. Geared to on-demand printing at industrial production volumes, the UJF-7151plus also allows users to print white onto transparent foil, further expanding application opportunities.

Aiming at providing visitors with a glimpse into the future of smart manufacturing, Mimaki will also demonstrate the power of IoT automation within a state-of-the-art UV LED inkjet printing process. The compact Mimaki UJF-7151plus will be combined with a robotic arm by Danish firm Universal Robots (distributed in Germany by Robominds), using proprietary IoT-based interface, Job Controller IP, to enable the communication and information exchange between the equipment. The robotic arm loads and unloads substrates from the printer, without any human intervention, to provide new levels of production efficiency and increased profitability, paving the way towards integration with the Internet of Things.

A further technology highlight on the Mimaki stand will be the UJF-3042 MkII EX advanced small format direct-to-object UV LED flatbed printer. Designed to bring increased productivity, supreme print quality and ease-of-use to on-demand printing, the UJF-3042 MkII EX prints onto almost any material or substrate in A3 format, up to 153mm thick, making the printer suitable for a wide range of applications in the promotional, POS and packaging sectors. The UJF-3042 MkII EX is equipped with Mimaki core technologies, including MAPS4 (Mimaki Advanced Pass System), a state-of-the-art feature based on an algorithm that calculates the most effective way of jetting ink drops to avoid visible banding; NRS (Nozzle Recovery System), which ensures the replacement of clogged nozzles without stopping production; and LD Mode, allowing printing on uneven surfaces with up to 4.5 mm variance in media thickness, without a noticeable drop-off in print quality. At InPrint 2019, the UJF-3042 MkII EX will be equipped with Mimaki’s Kebab option, a combination designed to enable 360-degree direct printing on cylindrical products and ideal to enhance decoration printing on 3D objects.

Mimaki’s industry-acclaimed UCJV300-75 will also be demonstrated on the company’s booth. A UV LED integrated printer/cutter, the UCJV300-75 is a compact yet versatile platform enabling a wide range of applications, from stickers. to labels and point-of-sale materials. At InPrint 2019, Mimaki will explore innovative, profit-driving applications, using the UCJV300-75 to print on metallic foil.

Mimaki’s showcase at InPrint 2019 will also feature the 3DFF-222 3D printer. Using Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) technology, the recently launched 3D printer has been developed as an in-house design and production tool, delivering the ultra-reliable manufacture of prototypes and end-use parts such as jigs and three-dimensional signage. A product co-branded with Sindoh, a 3D printer manufacturer, the 3DFF-222 system prints in PLA material to ensure that outputted models are robust and do not warp easily. Using easy-to-load filament cartridges, it can print parts up to 210mm x 200mm x 195mm (W x D x H) and can be monitored remotely through Mimaki’s app.

As part of the company’s presence at InPrint 2019, Mimaki will participate in the event conference programme. Uwe Niklas, General Sales Manager at Mimaki Deutschland, will explain how digital printing can push creative boundaries by enabling decoration on special materials, in a speech entitled “Digital printing as a stylistic tool – Digital printing technology for textiles, glass, wood”. The talk will be given in English on November 14th, at 13:30 – 14:00, in the Applications Stage area.
