Mikron acquires automation specialist in Singapore

(PresseBox) (Biel, ) The Mikron Group, a specialist in the production of machining and assembly systems, has agreed to acquire the Singapore-based company Integral Systems Pte Ltd. The corresponding purchase agreement was signed on 29 August 2007. Through the acquisition of Integral Systems, the Mikron Group will establish a permanent presence on the Asian market. At the same time, it will allow the current range of assembly automation products to be expanded and adapted in line with the needs of the Asian markets. The deal is scheduled for completion within the next few weeks. The acquisition will be financed from the Group's own cash resources. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The Mikron Group's operating result (EBIT) for fiscal 2007 will not be significantly affected by the purchase.

Well positioned in Southeast Asia

Integral Systems has put down firm roots in its local market and has made a success of serving international clients in Southeast Asia, China and the US. In Singapore, Integral Systems has been manufacturing custom-built automation equipment for clients including the automotive and electronics industries since 1997. The company employs 35 people.

Targeted acquisition

After the acquisition is completed, the Mikron Technology Group will be represented in Asia through its own subsidiary. Within the framework of close cooperation, the Mikron Assembly Technology division especially stands to gain from collaboration with local representatives in Asia. Immediate focus will be on building up support services for customers in this region. The range of activities offered by Integral Systems are also a good match for Mikron's assembly automation business, rounding out the current portfolio of services in this area. Mikron is confident of gaining access to new market segments through the acquisition.
