World premiere: The first large steam sterilisers in Miele quality
Short cycle times, robust design and excellent safety features
With the new PS 5000 generations, the individual needs of hospitals can be catered for with astonishing precision. Clients can select from a broad range of model versions. These include a choice of horizontal or vertical sliding doors and sterilisers with flush-floor loading. The new large steam sterilisers allow the reprocessing of 4 to 18 sterile supply units per cycle. Vacuum pump and steam generator modules are flexible in design and can be integrated or installed outside the machine.
All models are easy to operate thanks to the use of a touch screen. The smooth, hygienic surfaces facilitate simple wipe disinfection. The controls offer 10 standard programmes and memory space for customised programmes. The individual programmes and programme stages, the duration of cycles and countdown times are graphically presented in colour. This user-friendly interface in part requires a personal code to be input by the staff member responsible. Access rights ensure a high degree of operational safety and integrity. All sterilisation batches are fully protocolled and data can be read out via an interface for transfer to a batch documentation software package for evaluation and archiving.
A programmable logic controller is responsible for machine functions and monitoring the comprehensive safety devices which, in their own right, set new standards. The highly precise and maintenance-free spindle door drive allows the door to be stopped and securely held in any position, for instance in the event of a power failure. During the process, the entire door access area is monitored by a photo-electric safety curtain. This device registers movements, for example when a user's hand approaches the door, and immediately and automatically halts the closing process. An independent process evaluation system to record and evaluate process data is guaranteed by the use of redundant controls. In each case, separate pairs of sensors are used to monitor temperature and pressure.
On all sterilisers, steam enters the system via an outer jacket around the pressure chamber. This ensures good steam expansion and distribution across the entire outer surface of the pressure chamber. This, in turn, results in uniform temperatures throughout the chamber, relatively low levels of condensate and therefore optimum drying of loads. In the R&D process, computer simulations furnish proof that the design of the Miele pressure chamber is able to withstand the strain of pressure cycling over the entire anticipated life of the unit.
As full-line supplier, Miele also assumes servicing responsibility for large steam sterilisers, relying on its award-winning service excellence. In order to ensure a speedy response to service needs, all relevant components are accessible from either the clean or sterile side of the unit and the control cabinet is retractable on runners. In areas which are difficult to access, for example above the machine, quick-action TriClamp stainless-steel connections are used for ease of servicing. A comprehensive range of services ensures excellent aftermarket support.
