Safety and versatility on Miele large-chamber decontamination units

Unique micro-fine filter system and versatile load carriers

(PresseBox) (Gütersloh, ) The highest possible safety margins with respect to washing and disinfecting instruments combined with maximum flexibility in catering for varying load types and sizes in hospitals are benefits offered by Miele's PG 8527/28 large-chamber decontamination units, now fitted ex works with the new PerfectFineFilter micro-fine filtration system. This filter assembly is able to remove even the tiniest of particulate matter from the wash liquor. Furthermore, a new load carrier for large decontamination units creates ample space for large instruments by allowing the simple removal of two rack levels.

The new micro-fine filter system provides a very large surface area with a huge number of extremely fine pores (only 0.2 mm in diameter). These reliably filter out even the smallest particles from water in circulation. After all, such residual particulate soil could result in blockages inside the extremely fine lumens of ophthalmological or micro-surgical instruments and even be released during surgery later. This would ultimately result in poor reprocessing results, infections and post-operative complications.

For the user, fewer particles in the wash liquor equates to a preservation of values in the case of both instruments and the washer-disinfector itself. As less residue is able to access the hinges of instruments and the circulation pump in the machine, this extends the service life and utility value of high-value products. For optimum filtration, the PerfectFine filter only needs cleaning under running water and using compressed air. For this purpose it is simple to remove from the chamber. Miele large-chamber decontamination units already in the market can be retrofitted with the new filter assembly.

The new E 900-6 load carrier for use on large decontamination units, due to be launched at the end of 2012, does not only offer space for 18 DIN mesh trays on 6 levels. Above all, it will be valued for its flexibility in adapting to varying loads. The outstanding feature of this mobile unit is that two rack levels can be removed when not needed. This creates more space for large instruments or theatre utensils such as kidney dishes. It also facilitates the reprocessing of lumened instruments as used in micro-invasive surgery, offering LuerLock connectors to ensure excellent internal irrigation and drying.
