Perfect laundry service for hotels: For sports, leisure activities and relaxation

Miele machines for on-premise laundries offer a wide range of programmes

(PresseBox) (Gütersloh, ) Many hotels offer their guests sports and leisure activities. Often large amounts of soiled towelling are left behind at swimming pools, saunas and rest areas which have to be washed and dried promptly for reuse. Guests involved in activities such as skiing expect their tracksuits and ski suits to be washed and dried. Miele offers washer-extractors and tumble dryers for 10 kg to 32 kg loads which feature individual programme packages for a variety of different types of laundry. These packages also include programmes for bedding, table and kitchen laundry.

Both washer-extractors and tumble dryers feature Miele's patented honeycomb drum with its sculptured hexagonal pattern which protects laundry during both washing and drying. In the washing machine, the hexagonal pattern on the surface of the drum allows the laundry to glide on a thin film of water; in the tumble dryer air pockets in the hexagonal sections protect laundry during tumbling. Gentle laundry care has been confirmed in test washes carried out by Germany's WfK Applied Laundry Research Institute in Krefeld.

The freely programmable Profitronic M controls display all washing and drying programmes in a graphic display. The user selects a programme with the rotary selector switch and, if required, can change individual parameters. With the aid of a smart card, new programmes can be downloaded quickly and simply to the machine's controls. Programmes compiled by Miele are saved to smart cards and delivered to customers by post and can be added to the stock of programmes already available. Profitronic M controls have 199 programme slots for new programmes.

Bedding programme for washer-extractors with load capacities above 10 kg

Miele offers various programme packages for hotels and commercial kitchens, for example a bedding programme for washer-extractors with a load capacity of more than 10 kg. These ensure thorough, reliable and gentle cleaning results. Duvets and pillows, whether filled with down or synthetic material, can be machine-washed without the need to remove the filling, and then dried in a tumble dryer for a soft, bouncy finish. These new dryers are particularly suited to bulky laundry items such as duvets as they feature the ‘Air Recycling Plus’ airflow and temperature control system – patents pending – which optimises the drying process by controlling the proportion of air recycled. The honeycomb drum is of particular benefit when reprocessing quilts and duvets with a natural filling of pure new wool, cashmere, camelhair or silk. The special programme for this application features greatly reduced mechanical action and a maximum temperature of 25°C.

In addition, Miele offers programmes with a temperature of 60°C and 90°C for bed and table linen as well as a special programme for kitchen laundry. Since kitchen laundry may also consist of workwear as well as kitchen towels or cloths, often with particularly stubborn soil, this programme always starts with a 40°C pre-wash and thermal disinfection at 90°C is performed in the main wash. This ensures reliable hygiene.

Special programmes for towelling and sportswear

The two 'Towelling' programmes at 60°C and 90°C are ideal for hotels with wellness areas as they offer optimum consumption and short programme cycles. The 'Sport' programme package comprises nine programmes for a wide variety of sportswear: Outdoor clothing with breathable membranes, functional underwear, polycotton tracksuits as well as everything footballers need such as socks and gloves.

The laundry machines are characterised by low consumption, both in standard and special programmes. The 10 kg PW 6101 washer-extractor, for example, requires approximately 17% less water than the previous model.

Energy consumption during the drying process has been minimised as the maximum spin speed is reached in each wash programme. New imbalance sensing featured on all washer-extractors ensures smooth running at top spin speeds. Critical off-balance loads are detected in the initial stages so that remedial action can be taken to ensure good spin performance. In all cases, the highest safe spin speed is permitted for the programme in question.

Integrated load sensors cut operating costs

All washer-extractors and tumble dryers can be optimised using additional modules. For example, washer-extractors can be fitted with integrated weight sensors which register and display the current load in 200 g increments. This feature ensures that operating costs are automatically reduced in the case of less-than-full loads. On a 10 kg washer-extractor containing only half a load, water consumption can be reduced by more than 20 l compared with a full machine.
