InnoTrans 2008 set to break records

More than 1,500 exhibitors now registered / More halls and new railway tracks / Ideal transport links at north and south entrances

(PresseBox) (Berlin, ) Six months before the fair is due to open InnoTrans 2008 is set to break records. More than 1,500 exhibitors from around the world have already registered their participation. Even now, after the registration deadline has passed, demand remains unabated. As far as numbers occupying the halls and outdoor display site are concerned, attendance levels have already outstripped participation at the 2006 event. InnoTrans 2008 is "bursting at the seams". This is the first time that the leading international trade fair for railway transport technology will be occupying the entire exhibition grounds. By the date the fair opens on 23 September an additional 1,500 metres of track will have been added to the existing modern rail track area directly next to the display halls.

"Naturally we are delighted with the huge response from both Germany and abroad", says trade fair Director Matthias Steckmann. "However, we are faced with completely new challenges. It is our aim to guarantee the same, customary high level of service that InnoTrans has become known for over what is now a much larger display area." Once it had become clear that the previously occupied hall area on the southern section was no longer adequate, Messe Berlin developed a new concept for the grounds. As a result InnoTrans is now capable of meeting the huge level of interest expressed by customers from around the world. The new concept for the grounds also offers exhibitors and trade visitors numerous advantages.

Ideal transport links at north and south entrances

On the one hand occupying additional halls will make it possible to adequately satisfy the consistently high level of demand for display space, and on the other hand use of the entire exhibition grounds also provides an opportunity to reorganise individual trade fair sections. For example, in the halls occupied by Railway Technology it will now be possible to group companies exhibiting drives, vehicle components, power systems, electronic systems and vehicle services by individual category, and concentrate them in specific display areas.

As a result of this hall reorganisation visitors will now be able to follow a route all the way around and through the halls encircling the area on the grounds known as the Summer Garden. Use of the northern section of the exhibition grounds also provides an opportunity to add a further large entrance, thus making it possible for two main entrances to cope with the high trade visitor numbers at InnoTrans. Both north and south entrances have an excellent infrastructure and first-class public transport links.

Global interest in InnoTrans

Already more than 1,500 companies have registered to take part in InnoTrans in September, many of them from abroad. Companies from countries such as Brazil and Serbia will be represented at the InnoTrans for the first time, and demand from the Middle East, Asia, Australia and the USA has risen significantly. This is the first time that Australia will be at InnoTrans, where it will occupy a joint stand. Currently fifteen national industry federations will be at InnoTrans 2008, where they will represent the industries of their respective countries. Transport companies including Deutsche Bahn, PKP (Poland), ÖBB (Austria), Russian Railways, SBB (Switzerland), SNCF (France) are increasingly making use of InnoTrans as a platform for marketing and communication.

Growth in all the trade fair sections

All the trade fair sections at InnoTrans are expanding. With Railway Technology spreading into the halls around the Summer Garden, at InnoTrans 2008 the similarly expanding Public Transport and Interiors sections will be represented in Halls 1.1 to 6.1 on the southern section of the grounds. This is the first year that the Public Transport section will be rounded off with a display of buses for regional and public transport. New buses will be displayed in various locations, including an outdoor display site between Halls 2.1 and 4.1.

An attractive range of services for trade visitors

Online ticket reservations and pre-registration are among the visitor-friendly services offered by InnoTrans. It is possible to generate the required trade visitor ticket as a pdf file, download it, and print it out from a PC at any time, thereby eliminating postal charges. Thus visitors can avoid waiting times for registration at the fair, and on arrival can already make use of the advantages of a combined ticket offering free public transport in Berlin. Combined tickets will be available to exhibitors for the first time this year.

An outstanding location has been chosen as the venue for the Business Lounge, namely the Marshall House in the Summer Garden of the grounds. The building was completed in 1950 using funds from the European Recovery Programme. Set in historical surroundings, the lounge is open on every day of the fair from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and can be used as a place to meet and negotiate contracts with customers in an undisturbed atmosphere, or simply for a short break away from the hustle and bustle of the fair.

The InnoTrans website also offers attractive packages comprising travel arrangements, hotel bookings and other services. Booking early is worth your while. In previous years not only have trade visitor numbers risen, but the time spent at InnoTrans has increased too.
