International Disk Drive Equipment and Materials Association and MEDIA-TECH Association agree on Cooperation

(PresseBox) (Kahl/Main, ) The International Disk Drive Equipment and Materials Association (IDEMA) and the MEDIA-TECH Association have announced their agreement on a memorandum of understanding for cooperation. The joint initiative provides increased exposure and access to the main focal regions of both associations.

The IDEMA is an international, non-profit trade association that represents the hard disk drive industry and its infrastructure. Founded in 1986, IDEMA organizes trade shows, technical conferences, symposia, education classes, networking events and an active international standards program for more than 500 corporate and individual members worldwide.

The MEDIA-TECH Association represents companies in the optical disc industry with its membership primarily in Europe and the US.

Joel Weiss, President of IDEMA, comments: "It appears that IDEMA could provide MEDIA-TECH increased exposure and access to the Asia Pacific and Japan regions, while MEDIA-TECH could increase IDEMA’s exposure and access to Europe."

The memorandum provides membership discounts on events held by the partner organizations. In addition to this, events will be announced in each association’s online calendars and electronic publications, and links will be provided on the respective websites.

"We are pleased that this important industry body will be working more closely with the MEDIA-TECH Association in the future," adds MEDIA-TECH Association Managing Director Bryan Ekus. "Magnetic and optical storage technology provide global business opportunities and provide the ideal complement to each other."

IDEMA and MEDIA-TECH have also agreed to explore the potential for holding parallel events in the future. "I see benefits for both our organizations to work together for the benefit of the storage industry, and to help reduce the cost to our members and exhibitors," says Joel Weiss.

IDEMA is in addition looking forward to providing input for MEDIA-TECH events, the MEDIA-TECH Conference in March 2008 in Miami, USA and MEDIA-TECH Expo in May 2008 in Frankfurt, Germany.
