MBB subsidiary OBO takes over tooling activities from Huntsman Advanced Materials

MBB Industries AG (ISIN DE000A0ETBQ4), a family-owned, medium-sized corporation, has taken another step in its growth by way of an acquisition accompanied by a distribution agreement. MBB's subsidiary OBO-Werke is taking over the European tooling board and tooling paste materials business from its long-term partner Huntsman Advanced Materials. Specifically, OBO is acquiring production assets and licences to produce and market Huntsman Advanced Materials' products used in model construction, tool making and mould production in Europe, thereby completing the product range OBO can offer. Furthermore, OBO has been appointed as Huntsman Advanced Materials' master distributor for the distribution of its tooling liquids in almost all European markets. Terms and conditions of these agreements are not disclosed.

OBO is anticipating additional, profitable annual sales of a mid-single-digit million euros amount as a result of this transaction. The MBB subsidiary is hereby expanding its market position in the field of tooling products with the addition of the production and sales of Huntsman Advanced Materials' established board and paste materials as well as the distribution of its liquid materials based on polyurethane and epoxy resins. OBO is therefore becoming a full-range provider for tooling solutions in traditional and innovative applications in this field. The basis of this transaction is OBO's focus on this niche market, the associated service expertise and its high flexibility.

OBO-Werke GmbH & Co. KG has been a wholly owned subsidiary of MBB Industries AG since 2003 and doubled its revenues to around EUR12 million since 2009. A further growth surge is anticipated from this transaction, which will generate a revenue increase of more than 40% on an annualised basis.

At its headquarters in Stadthagen (Germany), it produces an extensive range of polyurethane (PU) boards in particular.
