AlphaCrypt CI module will also decode Arena Bundesliga (German National League) Pay-TV

The Common Interface module features several integrated encryption systems / Can be used to update around 2 million digital receivers fort he new Pay-TV provider / An AlphaCrypt CI is simply the universal solution for German-language Pay-TV

(PresseBox) (Unterbergen, )
As of this summer, Arena will be broadcasting its Bundesliga (German National League football) Pay-TV programmes via satellite, using the Cryptoworks encryption standard, and at very attractive conditions. Around two million digital receivers installed in German homes are equipped with a Common Interface slot, into which a suitable decoding module can be inserted. Any viewers wishing to receive the Arena broadcasts in this manner would be well advised to choose a CI module of the AlphaCrypt range, developed by MASCOM. The AlphaCrypt module, available in various models and versions, is regarded as the "Swiss army knife" with regard to German-language Pay-TV, as each AlphaCrypt module features several decoding systems. The AlphaCrypt TC (Twin Card; 129 Euros), which features two card readers, as well as the AlphaCrypt Classic (99 Euros), which has one card reader, support not only the eponymous encryption standard AlphaCrypt, but also the encryption systems Irdeto, Conax and Cryptoworks (e.g. for Arena or Easy-TV), and is compatible with Betacrypt as well as with the V-Code system. The AlphaCrypt light, priced at below 70 Euros, is a basic version, which does not provide access to the encryption systems Conax, Cryptoworks or Irdeto, and which is therefore very attractively priced. The easy.TV module (79 Euros incl. easy.TV smart card) is equivalent to the AlphaCrypt light module, but it has already Cryptoworks and the TC functionality (two card readers) integrated. These two or three conditional access systems can be obtained as an upgrade, which can be purchased separately, turning the AlphaCrypt light and the easy.TV modules into a fully-specified AlphaCrypt module. AlphaCrypt CI modules are also ideally suited for cable receivers. According to MASCOM chief executive Heinz Gruber "Our AlphaCrypt modules provide maximum flexibility for viewers. This means they can choose their ideal receiver, and still equip this for Pay-TV reception at a later stage. And manufacturers benefit too. All they need to do is equip the receivers with a Common Interface slot, thus obviating the need for any technically sophisticated and expensive receiver specification with the encryption provider." AlphaCrypt modules are available from authorised retail outlets.
