Mosca presents the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H, a high-end horizontal strapping machine

First horizontal strapping solution with SoniXs ultrasonic technology

EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H triple straps up to 180 packages per hour

A high-speed solution with minimum wear, the new EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H marks the arrival of Mosca ultrasonic technology into horizontal strapping machines. The EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H, successor to the EVOLUTION RO-MS-4-H, triple-straps up to 180 packages per hour. This machine is practically noiseless and energy-efficient with minimal wear. The premiere of the high-end machine attracted a lot of attention at Interpack 2017.

Manufacturers of furniture and household items primarily use strapping to protect their products with corrugated cardboard or other materials for transport. Along with processing speed, one of the key challenges in preparing packages for transport is the variable product heights. The EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H masters both problems with ease. Up to ten individually programmable settings ensure a wide variety of products can be securely strapped. The operator simply selects a program on the touch panel. Alternatively, a sensor on the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H can measure the height of a product. The machine then straps products automatically based on the parameters set by the customer. The SoniXs side sealing unit and reduced wear electromechanical components ensure smooth, reliable operation, even at high cycle rates.

Maximum availability and efficiency

"Our customers – especially those in the furniture and household appliances industries – are always looking for strapping machines that work perfectly. A breakdown can potentially halt their entire production," explains Christian Zwieb, Head of Project & Product Management Mosca. "The EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H guarantees maximum availability and efficiency.” Mosca developed the strapping machine in close cooperation with the company Häcker GmbH und Co. KG, where it is already in use. “We are very satisfied with the quality of the machines and the cooperation with Mosca”, says Friedbernd Bartels, Technical Projects.

Horizontal strapping for variable product sizes

The EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H is a horizontal strapping machine with a freely adjustable horizontal frame. It is currently available in four sizes, ranging from 1000x1000mm to 1400x1400mm. Packages up to 2.3 meter high are placed under the frame with or without additional protective cardboard using a customer or Mosca-specific conveying technique. There is no need for the product to align perfectly with the sealing unit because the frame can be positioned horizontally and will deliver an excellent strapping result. The vertical processing speed is about one meter per second. This enables users to triple-strap up to 180 products per hour. With the package so close to the side sealing unit, the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H can strap it with high tension.

SoniXs ultrasonic technology for wear-free strapping

The EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H is designed for high-performance operation. In addition to wear-free, brushless direct drives, the Mosca-engineered SoniXs ultrasonic technology keeps the machine operating at high capacity without errors or wear. The ultrasonic sealing unit requires zero warm up, which saves time and money. And because there is no excess residue, cleaning time is kept to a minimum. Ultrasonic technology also ensures high sealing strength, which is especially important for heavy products.

Easy operation and integration into production lines

Users operate the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H intuitively via Siemens touch panel that displays a diagram of the machine. This enables the user to choose a strapping program and set the parameters. Thanks to the modular design, all SoniXs machines in the EVOLUTION range use the same basic components, including the ultrasonic sealing unit. This makes it possible to use the same replacement parts on different strapping machines.

The EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H can be integrated into the customer’s existing conveying system. Mosca also offers optional OEM conveying systems that can be optimized to meet specific customer requirements. Open data interfaces enable the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H to be connected to other machines within the customer’s network and operated via a central control station. If the machine is connected to the customer’s IT system via Ethernet cable, Mosca technicians can service it remotely. They access the system via remote service and diagnose potential problems immediately. The EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6-H complements the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6, which is also designed for high-end operation and straps heavy packages vertically thanks to a side-sealing unit. It can also be fully integrated into production lines.
