Berry sales can grow strongly in the next few years

Coop Norway tells Global Berry Congress the good news about future berry sales

(PresseBox) (London, ) Consumer demand for fresh berries can grow more strongly in future if food retailers continue to do more to promote the berry category in store and at the same time create the best partnerships with suppliers to guarantee more consistent levels of quality and price.

That's the message to be delivered by Coop Norway's category manager Atle Alexander Olsen at this year Global Berry Congress. The Norwegian food retailer is confident it can achieve significant new sales growth and has set itself ambitious targets for berry sales through to 2015.

"Berries have become big business in Scandinavia," says Atle Olsen. "Sales are growing every year as ever more consumers get turned on to fresh berries. Consumption levels in Norway are now among the highest in the world."

Coop Norway is headlining the marketing session at the 6th Global Berry Congress, which takes place on 7-9 April 2014 in Amsterdam. Organised by Eurofruit Magazine, the annual conference and expo event focuses on excellence in fresh berry marketing and is expecting more than 250 delegates from all over the world.
