MAN and Weichai negotiating truck and engine cooperation

Memorandum of understanding signed in China

München, (PresseBox) - The MAN Group and the Weichai Holding Group intend to cooperate closely. On the occasion of the visit by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Mr. Tan Xuguang, Chairman and CEO of Weichai Holding Group Co., Ltd, Shandong, China, and Håkan Samuelsson, CEO of MAN AG, Munich, signed a memorandum of understanding in Beijing for the purpose of conducting exclusive talks on a strategic cooperation for jointly building and marketing trucks, truck engines, components, and large marine engines.

MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, the Commercial Vehicles business area of MAN AG, has been successfully working together with Weichai Power Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of the Weichai Holding Group Co., Ltd, for 20 years in the licensing of motor vehicle and engine technology. Weichai Holding Group Co., Ltd is one of the biggest manufacturers of diesel engines, gear boxes, commercial vehicles and big marine diesel engines in China with expected sales in 2007 to reach €4 billion.
