On Saturday, May 10, 2014, German soccer champion FC Bayern Munich will be celebrating its 24th title with a triumphal procession through the streets of Munich. As one of the club's official partners, MAN will be provid-ing the right vehicle for the celebrations again in the form of its champion truck. This will see the customized vehicle back in action once more a year after FC Bayern clinched the treble. The vehicle has been on show at the MAN Museum in Augsburg since then.
The convertible truck is based on an MAN TGX model with 400 horsepow-er. It was converted at the Truck Modification Center in Wittlich. First the roof of the driver's cab was removed to give fans a better view of their idols. The engineers then constructed an extra platform with railings especially to provide the players, coaches, and officials with enough room to "party." There is also a bar, DJ equipment, and a toilet - just in case the journey to Marienplatz takes a little too long.
The soccer pros, the coaching staff, and their entourage will leave MAN's headquarters on Ungererstraße at around 7:30 p.m. after the home game against VfB Stuttgart and the handover of the champion shield. They will make their way through Leopoldstraße and Maximilianstraße to the balcony of the city hall at Marienplatz.
The organizers are hoping for good weather this year to be able to make best use of the convertible truck and so that the celebrations can take place with the top down.
Munich travels MAN
MAN has been the official partner of FC Bayern Munich since 2008. The contract was due to come to an end but has been extended for the coming season by another three years until 2016. As the commercial vehicle part-ner, MAN provides the record champion's official team coach. Even the FC Bayern basketball team travels to its away games in an MAN.
