Call for Papers and Workshops - International LED professional Symposium +Expo 2014 (LpS)

4th International LED professional Symposium +Expo (LpS 2014) / Europe's Foremost LED Lighting Technology Event / 30 September - 2 October 2014 in Bregenz, Austria

(PresseBox) (Bregenz, ) The LpS is an annual congress fair in Bregenz (Austria) which has become the leading LED and OLED technological focal point in Europe. Scientists, researchers and engineers are invited to hand in an abstract for a lecture or workshop by February 17th, 2014 for the chance to present their latest findings at the LpS 2014 (September 30th - October 2nd).

Even though there have been many cutting edge developments in the past, the impact of Solid-State technologies keep the fundamental change process in the lighting industry going. Predictions for the next five to seven years are that we'll see more performance increases of LED and OLED light sources along with continuous price declines. Besides the profitability increase, continuous improvements and innovations are being made in the fields of reliability, color-stability, intelligent control systems, chip-designs based on Nano-Technology and quantum dots, to name just a few.

In order to expedite development, it is necessary to have a mutual exchange of scientific and industrial knowledge, discussions about promising solutions and a network that brings together key players from the areas of science and industry. This is the guiding theme of the annual LED professional Symposium +Expo (LpS) in Bregenz (Austria).

Requirements for Submissions

The call for papers and workshops is open to scientific as well as industrial submissions on the subjects of LED and OLED lighting technologies. The lectures and workshops can be comprised of any topics concerning luminaire, lamp, module and component designs of LED and OLED lighting systems from engineering to application. The wide range of topics can include areas like Light Engines, Optics, Electronics, Sensors and Thermal Management.

The lectures and workshops should have technology-focused content with background information and a detailed explanation of technical systems. Measurement and simulation results should support the description if possible. All abstracts handed in by February 17th 2014 will be a part of the selection process carried out by the LpS advisory board. Detailed information can be found at

LED professional Scientific Award

This year, for the first time, there will be an "LED professional Scientific Award" that will honor the best scientific paper on the subjects of LED and OLED light sources at the LpS event. The most progressive submission will be given an award by an international jury made up of leading scientists. The LED professional Scientific Award winner will be remunerated with 3,000 Euros. Furthermore, the winning paper will be presented at the LpS and published in the November/December issue of LED professional Review. Further information is available on

Event Information

The LED professional Symposium and Exhibition will take place at the Festspielhaus in Bregenz (Österreich) for the fourth time in a row this year. Over 1,200 people are expected to visit this year from September 30th to October 2nd. There will be many first-rate lectures in parallel sessions, hands-on workshops as well as panel discussions. Besides an exhibition with over 100 exhibitors, managers and engineers will to be able have in-depth talks with manufacturers, service providers and distributors. Fringe programs this year will be the LED professional Science Award and a Light Art Project. The intention of the Light Art Project is to build a bridge between application and technology. The Get-Together event will be a cruise around Lake Constance aboard the MS Vorarlberg with dinner and live music. As in previsous years, it promises to be the networking highlight of the LpS.

Bregenz is located on the shores of Lake Constance and is one of Austria's leading cultural and leisure areas. It is the capital city of the state of Vorarlberg and the seat of the provincial government with a population of 28,000. The area is known as a high tech region in the heart of Europe and is only a 2-3 hour drive from other technology hubs in northern Italy, France and Germany. Vorarlberg borders on Germany, Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. Bregenz can be reached directly by rail and the airports of Altenrhein, Friedrichshafen and Memmingen. The major airports of Munich, Zurich and Stuttgart are less than a two hour drive away.
