Test sourcing specialist Livingston has further expanded its operations in India and appointed a new sales director for the region. Having entered the Indian market 18 months ago, establishing an office in Gurgaon just outside Delhi, the company has made considerable traction there - serving the telecom, industrial and manufacturing sectors, plus many R&D sites. Livingston allows its Indian clients to gain access cutting edge test equipment, without being exposed to the financial risks that characterise direct purchase. Clients are not left having to deal with the often heavy on-going costs that owning equipment entails (including maintenance, insurance, repair, finance repayments and recalibration). They can also upgrade to other models if their technology requirements should suddenly change. Furthermore, rental makes it possible to rapidly add extra items to a customer's test inventory in order to cope with any rise in test demand.

"India is a hot bed of test activity right now, with 2G and 3G infrastructure needing be maintained and added to, plus LTE-based 4G deployments just starting to get under way in the last 6 months, as operators look to improve the mobile data experience. The need for test equipment rental is very strong as a result, as it enables technology firms to utilise their budget to the fullest." states Shailendra Kalra, Livingston's newly appointed sales director. "We are able to differentiate ourselves from our competitors as we are not just simply another rental firm, we are an end-to-end test sourcing partner - providing a full service, managing every aspect of test equipment supply. This includes procuring equipment, inventory management, asset recovery and disposal of defunct equipment, as well as the sale of used equipment." "By having local offices we are far better able to address our Indian customer base," he continues "We can provide companies with inventory stored on site, greatly shortening lead times and avoiding customs issues. In addition we offer in-depth technical support without the issue of times differences."

Highly experienced, Kalra has been involved in the Indian telecom's industry for close to 15 years. He has held sales director roles with multinational network equipment manufacturers such as Alcatel Lucent and Nokia Siemens Networks, as well as working for leading India telecom operator Bharti Airtel. He studied International business at the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade and Telecommunications at the University of Pune.

Livingston will be exhibiting at the Convergence India ICT conference (stand B153), held at the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Centre, New Delhi, 16th - 19th January 2013.
