Linear Technology Corporation announces the LT1912, a 2A, 36V step-down switching regulator packaged in a 3mm x 3mm DFN (or MSOP-10E). The LT1912’s 3.6V to 36V input voltage range makes it ideal for load dump and cold-crank conditions found in automotive applications. Its 3.2A internal switch can deliver up to 2A of continuous output current to voltages as low as 0.79V. Switching frequency is user-programmable from 200kHz to 500kHz, optimizing efficiency while keeping external components small. The combination of its 3mm x 3mm DFN-10 package (or thermally enhanced MSOP-10E) and tiny externals provide a very compact, thermally efficient footprint.
