Lace Mamba Global to publish serious game Fate of the World

(PresseBox) (Brighton, ) Lace Mamba Global, one of UK's leading independent computer and video game publishers, is proud to announce the upcoming release of Fate of the World, a breath taking strategy simulation that is designed to make players think about Earth's future and resources and how their role is connected to the fate of the world.

Fate of the World is the sequel to the popular, multiple award winning BBC Climate Challenge game. As a dramatic global strategy game, Fate of the World puts the future of the Earth into the hands of its players. Featuring a dramatic set of scenarios covering the next 200 years, based on the latest science and climate models researched by the Oxford University, players must manage a balancing act of protecting the Earth's resources and climate versus the needs of an ever-growing world population, who are demanding ever more food, power and living space. Players will see how difficult it is to help the whole planet without causing chaos and destruction.

The world press has already picked up on this masterpiece: "Already being hailed by gaming experts as a potential breakthrough for social change titles", states "The Guardian". "While Fate of the World arms you with environmental data and renewable energy policies rather than grenades and rocket launchers, the result is still compelling", writes "The New York Times". "Fate of the World could be a Civilization-style exercise in global management", wrote Bryan Walsh on the "Eccentric"-Blog of the "Time Magazine". Other features have been run by the French newswire service "AFP", by "Reuters", the "BBC World Service", the "Montreal Gazette" and other mass media publications. Also a couple of games magazines, such as "Edge" and "Rock, Paper, Shotgun" picked up an early preview version of the game and stated it to be a serious, but still very entertaining game.

One of the most impressive aspects of Fate of the World is that the Oxford-based development team Red Redemption hired Dr Bishop (Dr Who, 2000 A.D.) to write the script and Richard Jacques (Mass Effect, Alice in Wonderland) for music composition. Red Redemption created BBC Climate Challenge in 2006, which is played by around a million people all over the world. BBC Climate Challenge was winner of Best European Green IT Award 2008, DEFRA Climate Challenge Award, Serious Games 2009 Finalist, Games For Change 2008 Finalist and EuroPaws 2008 Finalist.

Lace Mamba Global will bring Fate of the World to retail stores world-wide, starting in the UK in Q2 2011.
