Kuehne + Nagel deploys integrated logistics concept for Legrand in Algeria
The French industry group has ambitious development plans for the Algerian market, hence the need for a robust and reliable supply chain solution. Under the terms of the new agreement, Kuehne + Nagel is entrusted with the end-to-end physical flows management of goods out of Legrand's in-house international distribution centre at Verneuil-en-Halatte, Picardy / France to customers in Algeria.
The solution implemented and managed by Kuehne + Nagel includes pick-up of containers and isolated pallets, road shuttling to Marseille port, LCL (less than container load) consolidation and transport by sea to Algiers, as well as customs and import declarations management. Inventory management and order picking are managed at a 2,000 sqm shared-user facility in the Algiers area from where final road distribution is ensured.
The solution is supported by KN Login, Kuehne + Nagel's web-based visibility and monitoring tool that provides Legrand with 24/7 access to all relevant transportation data, and thereby allowing for the constant monitoring of distribution flow and delivery status information.
Tobias Jerschke, Kuehne + Nagel's South West Europe Senior Vice President, Corporate & Business Development, commented: "This contract is a strong confirmation of our ability to design and deliver end-to-end supply chain solutions for international companies who require a reliable and consistently high quality service wherever they develop in the world. This partnership with Legrand will allow us to expand and strengthen the management of goods flows between Europe and the Maghreb countries Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia, one of our strategic development areas for the coming years."
Eric Seurin, Group Vice President Logistics and Purchasing for Legrand, added: "We selected Kuehne + Nagel to manage our logistics for Algeria because the company's integrated offering completely covers our needs - the overall control of the supply chain from our central distribution centre in France through to the end customer. By working with a single source provider, we are able to avoid continuity and interface issues when we implement changes to our logistics concept, such as establishing a new warehouse."
