燃料蒸气保留系统,即所谓的燃油蒸发控制(EVAP)系统,目前已经成为现代内燃发动机通用的组成部分之一。在如今的混合动力汽车上,油箱系统对外是密闭的,从而可能形成压力过高或者压力过低,然而,这种压力必须在特定情况下再次得到平衡。为了这一目的,皮尔博格开发了两种新型阀:无论是油箱隔离阀(FTIV)还是燃油蒸汽阀(FVV)均建立在组合件系统的基础上。

油箱隔离阀通常位于油箱和活性炭过滤器之间,控制通往过滤器的体积流量。除此之外,还需要其它阀,以便在OBDII检测中对整个系统进行开启和闭锁。油箱隔离阀是一种无流量关闭的阀,可以根据需要进行电动开启,拥有两个机械旁通,一旦出现超过预先设定界限的情况,就可以对所产生的过高压力或者过低压力进行消除。此外,通往活性炭过滤器方向的燃料蒸汽体积流量可以通过一个限流器限定在一个最大值上。阀门设计紧凑,重量轻,符合现代油箱系统无泄露和通过流体能力的数值要求。

基于组合件系统的特点,油箱隔离阀可以配备客户方所需要的全部功能,例如,有一款变型产品,阀无流量情况下保持关闭,只有一个压力过高旁通。另外一款变型产品是燃油蒸汽阀,在无流量情况下保持开启。这款阀可以通过简单的通电进行关闭,以便燃油蒸发控制系统中的燃料蒸汽路径在OBDII检测中保持封闭。
