Kontron KISS 2U KTQ45/Flex Quad-Core Industrial Silent Server offers multiple extension options

A series of 2U rack-mount servers featuring quad-core performance

Eching, Germany, (PresseBox) - Kontron expands its extensive portfolio of longterm available Kontron Industrial Silent Severs (KISS) with a new Quad-Core 2U rackmount platform in four variants. With the new Kontron Industrial Silent Server KISS 2U KTQ45/Flex, Kontron fills an extremely wide range of requirements for different applications in test and measurement, image processing, process control, video surveillance and gaming.

With four different versions and various expansion options, the Kontron Industrial Silent Server KISS 2U KTQ45/Flex offers customers perfectly tailored systems and a faster timetomarket. The systems come in a full box depth of 472 mm or in a short version for confined spaces with a depth of only 350 mm. With 2U height, the highperformance quadcore systems still offer enough space for four lowprofile PCI and PCIe cards or two fullheight cards (2x PCI or 2 x PCIe or 1x PCIe & 1 PCI). Despite its compact and spacesaving footprint, the KISS 2U KTQ45/Flex offers numerous expansion options. Customers can choose the right system from four different versions based on two different case depths and two expansion options (2 x PCI or 2 PCI and 2 PCIe).

All four Kontron KISS 2U KTQ45/Flex versions offer high performance up to an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor with embedded lifecycle support and 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM. Additionally, the new Kontron Industrial Silent Servers implement the Intel AMT 5.0 Active Management Technology, enabling in- and outofband remote management. This helps customers significantly reduce maintenance costs and total cost of ownership. Furthermore, equipped with Kontron's PC Condition Monitoring (PCCM) solution, preventive servicing can take place on an ondemand basis for even higher availability and lower TCO. And for security sensitive applications it features an integrated Intel Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2). Typical for the server range, the KISS servers are equipped with an energy efficient 80+ class 400watt power supply unit, which can also be implemented as a redundant PSU for highest system availability.

The feature set in brief:

The Kontron Industrial Silent Servers KISS 2U KTQ45/Flex pave the way for a wide range of extensions thanks to 2 x PCI plus 1x PCI Express x16 (PEG) and 1x PCI Express x4 ports. Alternatively the 2U server features two slots for full height expansion cards configurable as 2 PCIe, 2x PCI or 1PCIe & 1 PCI. All versions feature 2 x Gigabit Ethernet, 10 x USB 2.0 (2 on the front) and 2 x COM (RS232). Data storage devices can be connected via 4 x SATA ports with onboard RAID 0/1/5/10 functionality. One 5.25" bay is externally accessible and three 3.5" bay (one external) offer ample space for hard disks, CD/DVD drives or the optional Kontron KISS Stor Slim RAID subsystem with RAID 1 functionality. Graphicallyintensive applications benefit from the serial digital video output (SDVO) for DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort multiplexed with the PCI Express x16 Slot. In VGA mode, it supports resolutions up to QXGA (2048 x 1536). 7.1 HD audio and separate PS/2 ports for mouse and keyboard round out the feature set.

All Kontron Industrial Silent Servers KISS 2U KTQ45/Flex support the complete Windows desktop and server range including the new Windows 7 as well as Linux. They are available either as a standard configurable system or customized and delivered as a tested and independentlycertified solution.

The CE certified and UL qualified Kontron Industrial Silent Servers KISS 2U KTQ45/Flex are available in EMEA now and selected models will be available in North America and APAC in late Q2, 2010.
