Paris in the summer for Rapida 75

French vocational college signs up with KBA

Würzburg, (PresseBox) - Printing plants are not the only deployers of presses: training colleges use them as well. The Lycée Professionnel de la Communication et des Industries Graphiques "Notre Famille" in Osny, north of Paris, urgently needed a four-colour press in addition to its existing two-colour one.

The college prepares its students for the BEP (professional diploma) and BAC Pro (vocational baccalauréat) in printing and pre-press. Students who complete the four-year course and 16 weeks of hands-on training to gain a brevet techniques superior (advanced technical diploma) are qualified to be foremen in printing plants or work in the communications departments of regional institutions. At present the Lycée, which is the only Catholic institute of its kind in and around Paris, has 115 students aged between 16 and 22, some of whom also board.

The Lycée conducted a thorough study of the market prior to signing up for the four-colour Rapida 75. The press will have to be delivered in the summer because it must be ready for action when the new semester starts in September.

The Lycée maintains active links with similar colleges in Madrid (Spain) and Milan (Italy). Each of these three educational establishments specialises in a different printing process - the Spanish college in gravure, the Italian one in digital print and the French one in offset. Student exchanges are organised both to promote linguistic abilities and to expand the students' knowledge of other areas of printing.
