Unglückliches Ende nach einem lange erfolgsversprechenden Tag für Sepp Wiegand und Frank Christian. Das deutsche ŠKODA Duo war hervorragend in den ersten Tag der Rallye Italien gestartet, lag nach den ersten sechs Wertungsprüfungen auf Sardinien auf dem zweiten Platz des WRC2 Klassements. Doch technische Probleme am Freitagabend zwangen Wiegand/Christian zur Aufgabe.

"Am Anfang ist es mir nicht ganz leicht gefallen", sagte Wiegand. Die Pause seit der Rallye Portugal war einfach sehr lange. Wir haben versucht, unseren Speed zu finden und kontinuierlich schneller zu werden - ohne dabei Fehler zu machen", erklärte Wiegand.
