Targeting Functional Testers - Virgina Panel Solution

The new JTAG/boundary-scan hardware interface product is compatible with the Virginia Panel (VPC) mass interconnect system. The JT 2147/VPC is a signal conditional module that allows 'ideal world' connections from JTAG Technologies PXI and PXIe DataBlasters to the VPC connection system.

Based on the highly successful QuadPod™ architecture from JTAG Technologies, the JT 2147/VPC has been specifically designed for connection into G20x or G14x 192 pin 'QuadraPaddle' connectors and is also compatible with the VPC 'pull thru' system. By integrating the JT 2147/VPC, test system builders will greatly simplify their wiring task and, at the same time, retain the excellent signal integrity assured by the QuadPod's active interface.

The JT2147/VPC features four independent JTAG Test Access Ports (TAPs) along with 16 static DIO channels and 64 dynamic DIOS channels. Each TAP can be programmed to operate through a range of voltage levels to suit various logic families.

JTAG Technologies equipment is used world-wide within Mil/Aero and other industries as a component within functional testers. The JT 2147/VPC will greatly simplify the system builder's tasks and enhance the power of their test systems through improved signal conditioning.

JTAG/boundary-scan applications prepared using JTAG Technologies ProVision or 'Classic' software tools may be executed on this PXI platform with driver packages that are available for NI LabView, TestStand and LabWindows alongside Geotest ATEasy and a number of generic language compilers (e.g. .NET framework, C++ and VB)

The VPC adapters utilize standard QuadraPaddle connector modules, providing a wide variety of contact types. The connection between the PXI(e) instrument and receiver module is accomplished using either a passive printed circuit board, active signal condition module (as with the JT 2147/VPC) or flex circuit, with each providing optimum connectivity performance while reducing wiring cost.

The JT 5705 series

JTAG Technologies is proud to showcase the latest in its highly regarded range of boundary‐scan controller hardware for PCB assembly and system testing- the versatile JT 5705 series. This completely new design concept incorporates both JTAG/boundary‐scan controller functions and mixed‐signal I/O channels. Extensive input protection is provided to ensure high levels of in‐service reliability and low maintenance. Connection to the tester is made via a USB interface.

They offer a unique combination of JTAG TAP controller (tester) interfaces plus digital and analog I/O in compact desktop package.

Measure power supplies, clock frequencies or test DACs and ADCs, customers can add their own capability through use of CoreCommander FPGA JTAG Technologies' generic bridge/translator system.

The JT 5705/USB version (pictured right) is a desktop model with 2 TAPs and 64 I/O making it ideal for hardware validation or small-scale production test. Maximum TCK speed is a brisk 15 MHz and all voltages are fully programmable.

Support for new IEEE JTAG Standard (IEEE P1687) - New Demo - Revolutionary Extension to Basic IEEE 1149.1

Newly available as an addition to our standard range of tools, is a module aimed at the support of new IEEE P1687 (aka IJTAG - Internal JTAG) compliant devices that are currently under development. IJTAG/P1687 has been devised as an evolutionary extension to the basic IEEE 1149.1 and IEEE 1500 standards and describes how embedded (test) instruments within a device or S-O-C may be accessed using the conventional 4/5 wire JTAG port.

While the instruments themselves (typically HS-IO modules for high-speed interface testing like DDR3 etc.) are not described as part of the standard all the mechanisms for interacting with the instruments are. JTAG Technologies has therefore developed tools to read in the new P1687 description format and make available the features of all compliant devices to our customers.

The specific P1687 module supports the key language elements of the proposed standard, namely:- ICL- Instrument Connectivity Language that defines the hardware/logic interface to the instruments IP and; PDL - Procedural Description Language (a close relative of TCL).
