JEPPESEN GmbH and the tablet store to offer turnkey electronic navigation solution
According to Holger Stenzel, Jeppesen product manager, “This new agreement makes it quick and convenient for our mutual customers to buy a turn key package that has Jeppesen’s electronic navigation applications already installed on a tablet PC. The Tablet Store has unmatched expertise in tablet PCs, so customers are assured of getting the right hardware to meet their specific needs.”
The comprehensive functions in Jeppesen’s electronic chart application, JeppView, combined with a tablet PC allows pilots to conduct all phases of flight, including pre-flight planning, from a single unit. JeppView combines electronic VFR and IFR charts with powerful features, such as a moving map display, search and filter options, route planning, trip kit printing, and more. Also now included is an improved text module with the first XML (extensible markup language)-based text solution for general and business aviation pilots. Compared to the previous PDF-based text pages, XML provides greater functionality and usability.
Pilots may choose between services that offer only VFR charts, only IFR charts, or both VFR and IFR. JeppView also interfaces seamlessly with Jeppesen’s flight planning application, FliteStar.
Tablet PCs can also be used for all normal everyday applications. This is particularly useful for business people who can use a single device for flying and business appointments.
For more than 70 years Jeppesen has made it possible for pilots and their passengers to safely and efficiently reach their destinations. Today this pioneering spirit continues as Jeppesen delivers essential information and optimization solutions to improve the efficiency of air, sea and rail operations around the globe. Jeppesen is a subsidiary of Boeing Commercial Aviation Services, a unit of Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
