Target Australia Successfully Goes Live with JDA Portfolio Merchandise Management Solution

Coles Myer Division Gains Enterprise Stock Visibility, Peak Performance and Greater Flexibility

Scottsdale, Ariz. , USA, (PresseBox) - Scottsdale, Ariz. - October 23, 2003 - JDA® Software Group Inc. announced that AU $2.6 billion Target Australia successfully finalized a massive, multi-phased implementation of JDA Portfolio® Merchandise Management (“Portfolio Merchandising™”) software. The general merchandise retailer is now relying on Portfolio Merchandising to effectively manage about 11 million store/SKU (product code) combinations each night and is supporting approximately 1,000 concurrent users during peak periods. A division of Coles Myer Ltd., Australia’s leading retailer with annual sales over AU$27 billion, Target Australia also runs Portfolio Store Portal within each store, Advanced Planning by Arthur™ for both product and financial planning, Seasonal Profiling by Intellect™ for sophisticated replenishment and trending information and Space Planning by Intactix™ for their space management needs.
Mr. Peter Mahler, Coles Myer’s Chief Information Officer, states that the successful rollout at its Target division supports his long-term goal to improve operational efficiency and achieve cost savings within the Coles Myer organization.

Target Maximizes Use of Portfolio Merchandising
According to Bruce Arthur, Target’s Business Project Manager, Target’s Buying Office now uses essentially all Portfolio Merchandising modules including product registration, allocation, pricing, purchase order management, cost management, inventory management, merchandise category analysis and store data interchange.
“Portfolio Merchandising enables us to now see sales and stock position on a daily basis so we can make more timely, fact based decisions. We can even drill down to an individual transaction on an individual day at an individual store,” states Arthur, who also serves as the special interest group chairperson representing JDA’s entire Portfolio Merchandising user community. “With 100 percent of our users now accessing the system, we plan to closely monitor the solution and look forward to reporting some major business benefits.”
