JDA Collaborative Solution Enables Nature Made Vitamin Maker to Fortify Supply Chain

Scottsdale, Ariz. - September 24, 2003 - JDA® Software Group Inc. announced that Pharmavite LLC, manufacturer and distributor of Nature Made® vitamins, minerals and other dietary supplements, increased service levels from 90 to 99 percent in just three months as a result of using Portfolio Marketplace Replenish™. Since initiating a VICS®-compliant Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR®) program in March 2003 with $15.1 billion Rite Aid Corporation, Pharmavite has achieved other measurable results including:
· Nearly doubled inventory turns;
· Increased promotional sales and significantly reduced out of stocks;
· Decreased forecast error rates by almost one third.

Based on Pharmavite’s strengths as a supplier, Rite Aid approached the vitamin manufacturer to elevate its relationship into a partnership of collaboration and shared knowledge.

Pharmavite Finds Fast Relief with JDA Collaborative Solution
Pharmavite and Rite Aid started achieving benefits within weeks of launching the collaborative program.
“We achieved incredible supply chain savings thanks to several key processes supported by Marketplace Replenish including demand forecasting, seasonal profiling, collaborative order review and execution, scorecarding, and exception management,” stated Terry Moody, Pharmavite’s collaborative forecast planner.
Added Moody, “As a result of our strengthened partnership with Rite Aid, we can now place a greater emphasis on planning. By speaking regularly with the Rite Aid team during the planning and execution phases, we’re positively impacting the bottom line at all points of the supply chain.”
JDA Provides A Logistics Remedy
Rite Aid and Pharmavite’s comprehensive CPFR program is generating efficiencies for business processes beyond forecasting and order execution. For instance, Pharmavite has increased productivity at its distribution center.
“We’ve analyzed lead times and adjusted for greater efficiencies. More intelligent order quantities are enabling us to ship a higher percentage of our product in full pallet or layer quantities. For Rite Aid, the more efficient logistics processes are leading to faster and more efficient unload and put-away times,” reported Gary Mullin, Pharmavite’s director of sales.
The two companies will continue to look for improvement opportunities across the supply chain, including receiving efficiencies, returns, sales impacts and promotional effectiveness.
