New Java-based Point of Sale Solution, Strategic Merchandise Management Key Themes
Scottsdale, Ariz. - January 9, 2003 - JDA Software Group, Inc. will preview next generation solutions and infrastructure advancements in JDA Portfolio® at the NRF 92nd Annual Convention and Expo on January 12-15 in New York. The Company will debut JDA Portfolio 2003.5, the second major synchronized release of its comprehensive collection of products. Enabling clients to achieve efficiency and productivity boosts from connected business processes and workflows, Portfolio 2003.5 will deliver integration among JDA’s acquired and internally developed applications as well as with third party software including PkMS®, Manhattan Associates’ (Nasdaq: MANH) leading supply chain execution solution.
In addition, NRF attendees can see Portfolio POS™, JDA’s new slim-client store solution based on cutting-edge Java™ technology and JDA’s suite for strategic merchandise management and optimization.
Portfolio 2003.5 Delivers on Integration Promise
With several strategic acquisitions enabling JDA to consolidate a number of market leading point solution providers, the company recognized the need for the fundamental integration of JDA Portfolio to maximize its clients’ operational productivity, efficiency and agility.
“Integrating applications and business processes as we have done with Portfolio is a unique and powerful offering to all our customers,” explains JDA president Hamish Brewer. “JDA customers can select from our suite of best of breed solutions with the peace of mind that JDA is underwriting the integration. This represents a quantum step forward in our industry and a huge business benefit to all JDA customers; I believe that Portfolio is defining the future path of enterprise software for our industry.”
JDA committed record resources in 2002 to achieve this goal and, as previously committed, this program of constantly enhancing the value delivered through integration will continue throughout 2003. Portfolio 2003.5 is scheduled for general release in February.
JDA To Debut Next Generation Store Solution: Java-based Portfolio POS
Thanks to JDA’s foresight with its J-Commerce acquisition in April 2002, NRF attendees can test drive its latest Java-based store solution: Portfolio POS. Designed to help retailers save significantly on maintenance costs, plus reduce labor and hardware resources, Portfolio POS is a robust solution for point of sale and store operations. Featuring a component-based architecture that allows retailers to “right size” their store systems deployment, Portfolio POS utilizes the high-performance IBM WebSphere environment to deliver extreme scalability and flexibility. JDA plans to announce Portfolio POS’ general availability in April 2003.
JDA Joins Merchandise Optimization Panel
Peter Charness, JDA’s Chief Product Officer and senior vice president of global marketing, will represent JDA and its merchandise optimization approach during a panel discussion, “Cutting Through the Hype: What Works and What Doesn't with Merchandise Optimization” on Sunday, January 12 from 11:20 a.m.-Noon.
“While most retailers can competently execute their merchandise management processes, very few retailers are operating a seamless, integrated flow from concept to customer that starts with high-level decision-making and results in an integrated method of products getting on the store shelf,” comments Charness. “We take a holistic approach to Merchandise Optimization with our Strategic Merchandise Management suite supporting a total product lifecycle process. We view that process as a continuous series of interwoven decisions and product movements so merchants can work on a more strategic, unified basis, which plays to their skill and comfort zone.”
NRF attendees can see a demonstration of JDA’s strategic merchandise management solutions including Portfolio Allocation and Replenishment featuring E3 products, Portfolio Planning and Forecasting featuring Arthur and Intactix products, Portfolio Business Intelligence featuring IDEASÔ, Portfolio Advanced Optimization featuring JDA IntellectÔ data mining and Portfolio Revenue Management.
