JDA Software Sets New Bar in Linear Scalability, Price/Performance with Latest Release of Advanced Store Replenishment
Store Replenishment Excels in Demanding Tier One Benchmark on IBM iSeries Model 890
JDA attributes these phenomenal results to significant enhancements made to the software since its September 2001 acquisition of E3 along with increased capacity of the IBM server.
“What makes the benchmark so impressive is that our Store Replenishment software achieved these results using only 33 percent of the server’s capacity. Because we were able to linearly scale Store Replenishments’ performance upwards so it performed multiple tasks simultaneously without sacrificing efficiency, we are confident that our advanced software can handle even greater volumes in relatively the same time frames and on the same hardware,” comments Peter Charness, JDA’s senior vice president of marketing and chief product officer.
“The POWER4™ processors in today’s iSeries product line deliver mainframe-class performance in a highly integrated and easy-to-use system. The benchmark results achieved demonstrate the powerful combination of the iSeries server with JDA’s software, especially in the retail industry which frequently needs to be able to handle heavy transaction loads and spikes in buying patterns,” said Cecelia Marrese, vice president of marketing, IBM iSeries. "Because of the cyclical nature of the retail industry, these customers should also find the Capacity Upgrade on Demand feature of the iSeries server particularly attractive.”
JDA Proves Store Replenishment’s Scalability: Benchmark Details
JDA and IBM engineers performed a series of tests at IBM’s Benchmark Center in Rochester, Minn. The testing simulated the customer’s production environment as closely as possible. Potential growth was accounted for by generating additional stores and items to increase the database up to expected future levels. Both interactive and batch processes were evaluated and various measures recorded including, but not limited to, task runtimes, CPU utilization and disk utilization. The end result: the engineers categorically proved that Store Replenishment could handle a substantial increase in transactions in a shorter processing window.
Next Release of Portfolio Advanced Replenishment Products Now Available
In addition to Store Replenishment, JDA commercially released Advanced Warehouse Replenishment by E3™ (AWR) and Vendor Managed Replenishment by E3™ (VMR) in August. JDA’s Development and Quality Assurance teams put the fully integrated Portfolio Advanced Replenishment™ suite through stringent testing before making it available to its clients who are currently on maintenance plus any new customers.
“Intelligent inventory investment decisions require accurate information at every point in the supply chain. With our Advanced Forecasting and Replenishment offering, even our largest clients can address their inventory optimization needs from product source to customer hands plus gain the flexibility and scalability to support growth,” adds Charness. “With our reliable, streamlined implementation methodology ensuring low cost of ownership, JDA offers the most compelling and complete solution in the market today.”
