JDA Software Announces Third Quarter 2003 Customer Activity

The Kroger Co., Hewlett Packard and Tractor Supply Among New Deals

Scottsdale, Ariz. , USA, (PresseBox) - Scottsdale, Ariz. - October 20, 2003 - JDA® Software Group, Inc. announced many of the companies that signed JDA Portfolio® contracts in third quarter 2003. Several grocery retailers and distributors including The Kroger Co., Giant Eagle, Inc., Netto AS and Shamrock Foods Co. signed license agreements in third quarter. JDA also finalized U.S. contracts with such multi-billion dollar companies as Hewlett-Packard Co., Henry Schein, Inc., Belk, Inc. and Tractor Supply Company, while international deals included Farmacias Ahumada in Chile, Mountain Equipment Co-op in Canada, JUN Co., Ltd. in Japan and Mothercare Plc in the UK.
“We witnessed a significant step forward for JDA in the global demand chain marketplace this quarter resulting in a 77 percent increase in software license revenues over third quarter 2002. Many of our competitors have become less effective and the value proposition of our Portfolio solution has strengthened through a combination of winning functionality, valuable integration and proven delivery,” commented JDA CEO Hamish Brewer. “Our growth continues to be fueled by our unique strength in the analytic and optimization solutions business, however, we also saw the first real growth in our merchandise management products for several quarters. We experienced the strongest demand ever for our E3 branded products since our September 2001 acquisition and closed substantially more business than third quarter 2002 or last quarter. We also saw significant increases for our Arthur branded planning products.”
“With more and more companies viewing JDA as a one-stop-shop for demand chain solutions, we closed 50 percent more multiple product deals in third quarter 2003 than in the first six months of the year. We continue to see progress with our Customer Value Program as our customer base of nearly 4,600 retailers and their suppliers once again voted for JDA with their pocket books providing 53 percent of third quarter license revenues,” added Brewer.

The Kroger Co. Leads New 3Q Deals with Significant JDA Portfolio Investment
JDA welcomed new customer, The Kroger Co., one of the nation's largest retail grocery chains with fiscal year 2002 sales of $51.8 billion. Seeking an integrated merchandising, planning and replenishment solution to support the general merchandise and apparel division of its Fred Meyer chain, the Cincinnati, Ohio based retailer licensed Portfolio Merchandise Management™ (PMM™) software, Portfolio Advanced Replenishment by E3™ solutions, Portfolio Advanced Planning, Allocation, Assortment Planning™ and Performance Analysis by Arthur™ solutions and the Floor Planning by Intactix™ software. In addition to Kroger signing for PMM, JDA welcomed four other new merchandising customers this quarter that licensed Portfolio Merchandise Management-i™ (MMS®). These include leading British discount retailer, Poundland Limited and Philippines based multi-format retailer, Gaisano South Group, which also licensed Win/DSS® in-store system and Performance Analysis by IDEAS™ data warehouse. Philippines based New City Commercial Corp licensed MMS and Win/DSS.

Demand Increases for Advanced Replenishment by E3
The $1.2 billion Tractor Supply Company signed a significant agreement for the Portfolio Advanced Replenishment by E3 solution suite. The U.S.’ largest retail farm and ranch store chain with more than 462 retail stores in 30 states also licensed the Portfolio Space Management by Intactix™ products as well as the advanced business intelligence solution, Seasonal Profiling by Intellect™.
Also in the U.S., existing customers, $2.8 billion Henry Schein, Inc., the largest wholesale distributor of healthcare products to office-based practitioners, and Chase-Pitkin Home Centers, a home-improvement division of Wegmans Food Markets, licensed Advanced Store Replenishment by E3™.
JDA added new international customers seeking to optimize in-stock and service levels on a reduced inventory investment including Denmark’s Nilfisk-Advance, a leading supplier of cleaning equipment, and France’s Aubert, a European leader in childcare retailing, both signing for Advanced Warehouse Replenishment® while Nordic home electronics retailer SIBA AB signed for Advanced Store Replenishment.
Other existing international customers licensing Advance Warehouse Replenishment include Danish discount grocery chain, Netto A/S; Chile’s Farmacias Ahumada, the number one drug chain in Latin America; and Norway’s Voice Norge AS, a fashion retailer with 450 stores and revenues over $900 million NOK. Additionally, Mountain Equip Co-op, Canada's largest consumer co-operative for self-propelled wilderness recreation signed for Advanced Store Replenishment.

JDA Collaborative Solutions Business Up 71 Percent Over 2002
With leading companies such as Cadbury Schweppes UK, Hershey Foods and General Nutrition Centers, Inc. striving for improved supply chain efficiencies, JDA increased its number of trading partners relying on Portfolio Collaborative Solutions™ to nearly 175 trading pairs reinforcing our market leadership in the important emerging market.

Strong Quarter for New Advanced Planning and Forecasting Deals
The Portfolio Advanced Planning and Forecasting™ suite had a strong quarter with several deals signed by new and existing customers. Leading the list of new JDA customers are Belk, Inc., the largest privately owned department store chain in the US; JUN Co., Ltd., a Japanese designer, manufacturer and retailer of ladies’ and men’s fashion; and leading Swedish shoe retailer, the $1.3 billion SEK Nilson Group AB. Belk licensed Advanced Planning by Arthur™, Performance Analysis by Arthur, the Arthur Knowledge Base™ (AKB) and Assortment Planning by Arthur along with Demand Planning by Intellect™. JUN Co. licensed Advanced Planning, Performance Analysis and AKB to more effectively plan its range of over fifteen designer brands. Nilson Group AB licensed Advanced Planning and the AKB.
Existing MMS customer, Mothercare UK Ltd., a leading retailer for the mother-to-be and parents of young children, licensed Advanced Planning, AKB, Performance Analysis and Assortment Planning while Eastern Mountain Sports, a subsidiary of the American Retail Group, added Advanced Allocation.

Portfolio POS and Vista Retail - New Products, New Customers
JDA signed current customer, Family Christian Stores, for its first implementation of Portfolio POS™, JDA’s new Java-based store system. The leading U.S. specialty retailer with over 325 locations in 39 states also licensed Customer Relationship Management by Affinity™ and JDA Store Portal™.
JDA welcomed new customer Giant Eagle, Inc., a Pittsburgh, Penn-based food retailer with about 130 corporate and 83 franchised supermarkets. Giant Eagle signed for the award winning VistaRetail™ software that allows retailers to receive and respond to product and promotion information from suppliers based on subscriptions managed in the application.

RadioShack Leads Portfolio Space Management License Activity
Long time JDA customer, $4.5 billion RadioShack Corporation, one of the nation’s leading electronics retailers, significantly expanded its Portfolio Space Management by Intactix™ investment. Other existing customers to expand their space management licenses include IKEA North America and Budgens Stores and such consumer goods companies as UK Elizabeth Arden, L’Oreal for its French and US divisions, Revlon, Inc., Genuine Auto Parts Co. Inc./NAPA, General Mills, BIC USA, GlaxoSmithKline, Masterfoods USA, Rust-Oleum Corp. and Colgate Palmolive Pty Ltd. UK.
A partial listing of companies that licensed JDA’s space management solutions for the first time include: Coty Mexico, Energizer Australia, and one of the world’s oldest beer brewers, Interbrew UK.

Existing Customers Return for More Value from JDA
Several JDA customers licensed additional Portfolio applications or expanded their existing license agreement to drive more value from their JDA investment. Sporting and outdoor goods retailer, Galyan's Trading Company, Inc., expanded several licenses including products within these suites: Portfolio Merchandising, Business Intelligence, Advanced Planning and Replenishment and Space Management.
The $2.3 billion Mandalay Resort Group expanded its MMS license and also licensed Performance Analysis by IDEAS. The $1 billion Shamrock Foods Company, the fourth-largest independent food service distributor in the US, expanded its existing Advanced Warehouse Replenishment license.
Several other companies signed for one or more Portfolio products, or expanded their license agreements with JDA in third quarter 2003. Due to the competitive advantages of implementing JDA’s Portfolio solutions, these companies have requested confidentiality.
