JDA Software Announces Comprehensive Implementation at $1.2 Billion Matalan Retail
U.K. Apparel & Homewares Retailer to Use JDA Portfolio® to Achieve Growth Initiative
Scottsdale, Ariz.- December 3, 2002 - JDA® Software Group, Inc. announced that Matalan Retail Limited, a value clothing and homewares retailer with $1.2 billion annual turnover, is implementing JDA Portfolio® as part of a broad-reaching and aggressive supply chain enhancement project.
According to Paul Mason, Matalan’s chief executive, JDA Portfolio will provide the core supply chain functionality needed to rapidly grow the retailer’s current store count of over 150 nationwide.
“JDA Portfolio offers us a contemporary, integrated solution that we can implement in a modular way, but still align with our two-year timeframe. Importantly, JDA’s consultants are retail experts who are committed to understanding how our business requirements will be addressed within the Portfolio framework,” commented Mason.
Matalan will use JDA’s open, client server Portfolio Merchandise Management™ software, JDA Portfolio Internet Store Portal, Performance Analysis by IDEAS™ business intelligence software, Advanced Allocation by Arthur™ and Merchandise Planning by Arthur™.
JDA Partnering with Manhattan Associates and Kurt Salmon Associates
JDA is one of three key partners working with Matalan on this expansive supply chain project. Manhattan Associates, the global leader in extended supply chain execution solutions, will implement its industry leading warehouse management system PkMSâ, the business intelligence tool, SmartInfoâ, and the real-time collaborative commerce solution, infolink™ to give Matalan robust supply chain execution capability. Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA) is Matalan’s Business Transformation partner to help the retailer deliver on its performance objectives and timescale.
“Matalan, JDA, Manhattan Associates and KSA will share all of the challenges of this project,” stated Mason. “We have a great deal of confidence in our partners’ ability and commitment to deliver.”
“We are pleased to be a strategic partner in Matalan’s supply chain transformation,” remarked Andrew Blatherwick, JDA’s managing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa operations. “Matalan has established a true partnership within its implementation team that brings together the core competencies of each company. Although successfully delivering IT projects involving significant organizational change is never easy, JDA is 100 percent committed to delivering the advanced capabilities of the Portfolio suite to Matalan on time and on budget. It’s this philosophy that has enabled us to establish successful long-term relationships with our clients which, in conjunction with our strategy to continually add new best of breed Portfolio applications, helps foster their loyalty to JDA.”
Prior to the Matalan engagement, JDA had already established a worldwide strategic partnership with Manhattan Associates in January 2002 and partnered with KSA on such significant supply chain projects as Japan’s AEON Co Ltd, the world’s 16th largest retailer with 2001 revenues of US$23.6 billion.
