JDA Announces Successful Implementation at Leading UK Clothing Retailer
River Island achieves ROI by cutting costs and improving efficiencies with JDA Portfolio

Scottsdale, Ariz. - July 15,2003 -JDA® Software Group Inc. announced that River Island Clothing Company, a privately owned leading UK fashion retailer, has successfully deployed key modules of JDA Portfolio® Merchandise Management™ (PMM) and Advanced Allocation by Arthur™. River Island has 191 retail outlets in the UK and Ireland, franchise stores in Europe and the Middle East, plus mail order and web sales operations.

By replacing its legacy systems with JDA’s fully integrated solution, River Island is improving efficiencies such as:
· Substantially decreasing allocation time;
· Significantly reducing purchase order creation and vendor processing;
· Increasing replenishment profitability by more accurately and quickly reacting to and predicting future sales.

Having achieved these performance milestones, River Island has moved to the next phase in its supply chain optimization project that involves implementing several distribution center applications by Manhattan Associates, the global leader in supply chain execution solutions. River Island anticipates gaining additional efficiencies and reducing implementation costs by leveraging JDA and Manhattan Associates’ worldwide strategic alliance.

Commenting on the retailer’s achievements to date, Richard Bradbury, River Island’s managing director, states, “JDA has provided us with an integrated solution with a modular framework so that we can implement functionality in an order of priority that meets our key business initiatives. Based on JDA’s ongoing commitment from their senior executives to deliver best-of-class applications and service, I am confident that we have the right partner to help us move forward in developing our business.”

“We value our strategic partnership with River Island and are proud that our Portfolio applications are playing such a significant role in their retail supply chain transformation,” remarks David Tidmarsh, JDA’s senior vice president of client services. “Although undertaking IT projects of this magnitude is never easy, River Island successfully assimilated a team of the industry’s best solution suppliers and their most talented internal experts. The results of these wise business decisions are obvious in their bottom line savings and return on technology investment.”

River Island Does Business Smarter with JDA Portfolio
Prior to implementing JDA, River Island was using legacy systems that were not capable of addressing the retailer’s growth. According to David Jenne, River Island’s business systems controller, the lack of flexibility of their in-house system resulted in inefficiencies for several processes including purchase ordering, inventory management, replenishment and allocation.

“We wanted to do things smarter,” explains Jenne, who represents River Island’s user community to the IT group. “JDA enables us to integrate our systems, electronically communicate with vendors and implement best practice processes in an easy-to-use environment to achieve cost and operational efficiencies.”

Jenne believes that River Island has gained a competitive edge with key aspects of PMM, purchase order management and replenishment particularly, coupled with Advanced Allocation. “These systems ensure the decisions we make are processed easily and quickly by the users, at the same time, allowing our teams the flexibility to use their talents to create the most competitive offering in the apparel market today. In the end, what really matters is buying the right amount and selling at full price in the short timeframes of the high-fashion industry. The JDA solutions help us do this more efficiently.”

In addition to PMM and Advanced Allocation™, River Island is implementing Win/DSS® in-store systems which is currently being piloted in twelve stores before further rollout. The retailer is also licensed to use JDA’s Performance Analysis by IDEAS™ data warehouse.
