Cadbury Boosts Supply Chain Efficiency, Profits with JDA Portfolio

Delivery of Profitable Store-specific Planograms Reduced From Three Months to 10 Days

Scottsdale, Ariz. - February 6, 2003 - JDA® Software Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: JDAS) announced that Cadbury Trebor Bassett, one of the word’s leading confectioners, and a division of $8 billion Cadbury Schweppes PLC, is successfully using JDA Portfolio® solutions to capture increased profits in the impulse-driven confectionery category. According to Richard Lane, Cadbury Trebor Bassett’s category development manager, Portfolio Space Planning by Intactix™ has enabled the company to successfully reduce the delivery of store specific range reviews to its trade customers from three months to 10 days. In addition to boosting supply chain efficiency, Cadbury Trebor Bassett has enhanced service to its retail partners while expanding localized assortments to include a wider range of products that customers want to buy.

JDA Portfolio Facilitates Better Customer Service
Before going live with the Portfolio category management applications, the confectioner’s limited resources hindered its ability to quickly deliver profitable, localized assortments to its hundreds of small to medium accounts, and their thousands of stores.

“After only two months, we’ve taken a huge leap forward in the creation of mutually profitable planograms,” stated Lane. “Our account management team is using their laptops to download planograms from the Head Office, sit down with the retailer to discuss their confectionery range and then make the changes right there and then, agreeing to a customized solution instantly.”

“Reaction from our account managers and our retail partners has been fantastic. We’ve enhanced our relationships with our retail partners. And communication between our Head Office and Field Sales has improved significantly,” concluded Lane.

“Cadbury Trebor Bassett’s adoption of Portfolio space management solutions highlights the organization’s commitment to delivering superior category management to all of its retail partners,” stated Andrew Blatherwick, JDA’s vice president, Europe, Middle East and Africa operations. “Whether the location of the display is on the counter, at the main fixture, or in any other area in the store, we’re pleased that our solutions are enabling Cadbury Trebor Bassett to get the space right at the local level and therefore take full advantage of the impulsive nature of the category.”
