Vietnam Railways opts for IVU.rail
A special feature of this project is the variety of the rail transport operations that Vietnam Railways has to carry out on a daily basis. For example, rules and regulations differ considerably between passenger and goods transport, and these have to be integrated in the software system. A special new module will be developed which provides cargo customers of VNR with realtime information about the status of their orders via a Web interface. Passengers should also find it much more convenient to use the rail services. In future, IVU.realtime will provide information to the platforms of the mainline stations about the updated departure times of their trains.
Vietnam Railways will also be using state-of-the-art technology for transmissions between the control centre and the driver. Voice communications will in future be by means of Voice over IP over GPRS. The data rates of this technology are much higher than conventional analogue radio systems. Voice and data transmission will be possible in parallel, and the use of public networks reduces the operating costs. The locomotives are being equipped with the necessary on-board computers by IVU.
"The railways are the most important form of public transport in Vietnam. Many people depend on them, particularly in the rural areas", explains Martin Müller-Elschner, CEO of IVU AG. "I am very proud that with this key project we have now taken another step forward in the Asia-Pacific region, following on from the successful installations in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur und Adelaide."
