All Sweden in one database / Samtrafiken chooses IVU.pool

(PresseBox) (Berlin, )
The Swedish Samtrafiken public transport association has placed an order with IVU Traffic Technologies AG for the nationwide introduction of IVU.pool. Beginning in 2010, the timetable data of 40 public transport operators will be administered centrally using IVU's data management system.

Samtrafiken coordinates the entire public transport network in Sweden. Information is required for all train, bus, metro, tram and ferry services throughout the country, along with the fare tariffs in each case.

In order to achieve this, it is essential to have a reliable timetable database, which will be provided by IVU.pool from 2010. IVU.pool combines data relating to stops, timetables and tariffs for all 40 public transport companies and provides support for the harmonisation of such data. This will also make it possible to identify transfer points between services, along with data on accessibility for passengers with restricted mobility, for example.

The Swedish requirements include the need for information about special tariffs for express buses and overnight sleeper rail services, and for an export interface using the NOPTISformat, the new standard for timetable data in Scandinavia. The multiclient capability of IVU.pool guarantees data security for all the transport companies whose information it processes.

"With more than 60 000 stops and stations, Samtrafiken is our largest IVU.pool customer to date", explains a satisfied Martin Müller-Elschner, member of the Board of Management of IVU Traffic Technologies AG with responsibility for the Public Transport market. "Further deregulation in Swedish public transport will increase the number of providers and thus the amount of data to be administered. With IVU.pool, Samtrafiken is well equipped to cope with this."
