Save the Date - International BEST & IRT-Workshop

From TMC to TPEG - cooperative migration of broadcastbased travel information services / On 14th March 2012 at Institut fuer Rundfunktechnik, Munich, Germany / Time: 10:00 - 16:30 h - the conference language will be English

(PresseBox) (München, ) All players in the field of traffic and travel information (TTI) service provisioning in the medium term face the challenge of adapting their service offering to the digital era. Notably broadcasters and their partner market-players have to ensure that after the digitisation of the radio programmes and accompanying services their market share still holds and the endusers' satisfaction regarding the service quality is better than for current TMC-based services.

The members of the BEST consortium (Broadcasters' European Solution for Travel information, representing the interests of the public broadcasters in the German-speaking countries on TTImatters) and the Institut fuer Rundfunktechnik kindly invite you to this one-day Workshop. During the workshop, a broad range of aspects regarding the implementation of TTI service migration and the realisation of successful, digital, high quality broadcast-based TTI services - using open standards such as TPEG - will be addressed. The workshop targets decision-makers and experts who are involved in current TTI issues and specifically addresses broadcasters and their cooperative partners on a European level. The workshop aims at an information exchange on current themes and will provide a cross-company networking platform for the exchange of experiences to strengthen a cooperative basis for future TTI service solutions.

Following themes will be addressed in the workshop:
- Challenges for the respective market participants (broadcasters, information providers, enduser device manufacturers, ...) and how to cooperatively face them
- Prerequisites for a successful migration (broadcasters' requirements, editing systems, transmission technology, end user devices, switch-over scenarios, ...)
- End-to-end quality of TTI services, including experience from the TMC service provisioning, requirements for future broadcast-based TTI services and open solutions for service delivery (e.g. georeferencing)
- Experiences with TPEG service provisioning so far
- Positioning of main European public broadcasters
