Imtech acquires Swiss company Penta and strengthens European ICT position
René van der Bruggen, Imtech CEO: 'Over the last few years, Imtech has built up a strong position in the European market for ICT services (Information and Communication Technology) and is active in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium and Romania. The acquisition of Penta further strengthens the company's position in Switzerland. Penta is a well-run company with a strong position in the growing market for managed services. Co-operation with existing ICT activities in Switzerland will lead to further growth of the business.'
Established in 1998, Penta has developed over the past decade into a strong player in the Swiss market for managed services. This involves services that are focused on making ICT (Information and Communication Technology) capacity available - either remotely or in-house - to clients on the basis of permanent (24/7), high-quality and scaleable performance. The company serves dozens of clients on the basis of Service Level Agreements, handling the professional hosting of their ICT capacity and offering numerous related ICT services such as first and second line support (including a professional help desk), remote support and specific ICT services. With the services of Penta, clients are assured of efficient ICT enterprise processes at a low cost. In addition, Penta supplies a variety of hardware and software products. Penta enjoys numerous partner relations with global market leaders like IBM, Microsoft, Citrix, VMWare and HP. The company has its head office in St. Gallen, with local offices in Zurich and Bern. Penta is primarily active for the medium-sized companies and in the (semi)public sector.
Imtech is already a strong player in Switzerland via its ICT business unit Fritz und Macziol. Fritz und Macziol and Penta are well-acquainted with one another and have already been working together intensively for many years. Besides an increase in scale, the existing services portfolio will be considerably strengthened in terms of the managed services competence. In addition, the geographic spread will be expanded, as Penta is active in different regions to those covered by Fritz und Macziol. And finally, the two companies' client portfolios complement each other. There is a strong increase in the demand for managed services in Switzerland. With the acquisition of Penta, Imtech will be actively responding to this growing demand.
