Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) has commissioned Implenia to expand capacity at its Liestal station to four tracks. The SBB is adding the extra tracks to avoid congestion, reduce disruption and improve the punctuality of the train service. The overall 380-million-franc expansion package also covers the turning track project, which is a prerequisite for the quarter-hourly S-Bahn service between Basel and Liestal.
